I’m so sorry man…we only have one dad and when my father passed, it felt as if the world quit spinning for a time. All that Knowledge sealed shut, for about a year, I had to resist picking up the phone to ask him a question. And although your father lived a long full life, we still miss and hurt inside. Prayers and huggs!
I woke up this morning reading about how BYU won a true road game and that somehow BYU is back on track…Bologna…there were far more BYU fans at that game than Colo fans…KY needs to quit fooling with rotations and stick with his veterans.
Pay special interest in who was on the floor when BYU made that big run before and after the 2nd half. Those are the guys that win games.
Demin was special when he quit looking to shoot and started exploiting Colo’s inept defense.
Saunders and Mag were relentless on both sides of the ball. Richie has to be our go to guy when we need a bucket.
Baker would also be my choice to get a crunch time bucket. BYU would be at least 3 games better if we had better coaching in close games.
To me, we stopped being controlled so much and they just played hard like kids should and had fun. Playing tough defense and getting back from the players that can do that was key on defense.
Pushing the ball up a lot more and looking to score quicker helped a lot. We pulled back some late in the game because we wanted some clock to run off.
Even Knell got into the flow and hit shots in a road game that actually meant something. Lose that game and we really would be in trouble. Castings also was able to play a few minutes and contribute in the 2nd half without getting a T.
How we played is the way to win even with WCC officiating style of nonsense. If we can start games with this aggression and fun we should win Saturday and surprise more teams too. And it’s about time to get Bosk into games. I bet he tears it up in practice. Just has to learn to transfer that to games by playing in games.
It seems to me that KY is finally coming around…to the idea that winning games is important.
NCAA development is important…but unless you win games you don’t get the top players to develop.
He needs to figure out how to pick up 9, maybe 8 more games, in conference, do well enough in the conference tournament to eke out a decent dance invitation, and then win two or three games dancing.
He is going to lose at least a couple of more home games, unless the defence improves dramatically…so that means winning even more on the road…which means not just defensive improvement, but offensive improvement as well…
Not sure it can be done, but yes if he can focus on the players who made that big run in Boulder, they stand a chance of finally showing improvement.
very brief glimpses this season of what he can be. He was better last year IMO. I think BYU needs to push tempo and just flat out be more aggressive on both ends. That seemed to be a successful formula in this game. Colorado has dropped off a cliff this season from early on. Hard to believe they beat UConn back in November.
Well, watch BYUSN today. AJ was interviewed and seems to understand things better than those here on CougarFan and elsewhere as he’s not changing his mind. And Travis Hansen was on as well talking about Demin. This is really what BYU is all about! Great chance of him sticking around another year. And not because of how he’s playing either.
I would love to see Demin stay. His play been uneven but he shows great potential. Catching shows great potential as well but lacks the maturity of Demin. Right now he seems frustrated because he can’t dominate like he did in high school. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him leave through the portal if he isn’t starting again, or at least playing big minutes again before the end of the season.
Not sure how Catchings feels about BYU like Demin does. He should see that even with AJ and Staton coming in that he would be a key player of an elite potential team. Why would he leave?
IMO Catching’s play defensively has been better than average on this team, sadly his scoring, like Hall’s, seems to have tanked. I would not be surprised to see Catchings get his mojo back and get more minutes again…though Mag’s time will be hard to take away from him. Defensively Mag is just a more mature player, not the obvious talent of Catchings. Offensively Mag is showing increasing ability, if he doesn’t get derailed by an injury, which is his history, KY will have two players to switch out like Foos and Keiba, which can only be a positive as we move later into the season. Mag is not as worn down because of his off season injury and lack of early playing time. Catchings is getting plenty of down time right now…
