As most are posting, no. Other schools simply take their immature players and redshirt them. They are able to workout with the team and develop. Those on missions are not. That is a huge disadvantage.
The top players out of high school are in tip top shape and ability. They are ready to contribute. Those coming off a mission need at least a year or two to get back into their groove if they can. Not all can.
It’s a dumb jealous argument from the elite coaches and media. Another attack on freedom of Religion and the right to exercise religion.
Let’s face it, Returned Missionaries are BYU. Whether they are an advantage or disadvantage, BYU has to live with them. It is integral to the LDS Church.
