ESPN has created a conference tournament bracket for each conference. In order to conserve space they have naturally used abbreviations for the team names. However, at the bottom of the page it lets you know that if you hover your mouse over the abbreviation you can see the full team name. In the West Coast Conference Gonz becomes Gonzaga, SF becomes San Francisco, SMC becomes Saint Mary’s, etc. and BYU becomes BYU.
At least when it comes to broadcasting, ESPN does get BYU some exposure. I was quite surprised at the number of people in my office in Houston (mostly Texas, Texas A&M, Houston, and LSU fans) who watched the BYU/Gonzaga game last weekend. They were all very impressed.
