We need to cause a turnover or this game will get out of hand.

Well offense is doing a great job of turning the ball over… is th as t what you mean?

Well the announcers disagree with you, so according to you they are correct.

So much for the BYU HYPE this year…
This is going to be a long season.

#5 runs up the middle well, not outside. Utah’s to fast for that. Wilson is a bit off. That should have been to Bushmans right shoulder

Maybe. There are good things to build on. But, we will have to wait until next year

As a side note… Kalani should bench DB Mandel, TWO PERSONAL FOULS ! One letUtah off the hook

Looks like ball protection, avoiding face mask penalties and not throwing passes into opponents hands may be items to include in this next week’s practices.

Ya. That face mask was weak

When losing sometimes you have to take some risks. Nice drive and now lightning.

Oh don’t we hope for six wins.

Maybe BYU can be Liberty. Why not ask the AAC if they are interested in BYU?.

It was a face mask and it was out of bounds and it was a stupid unnecessary play and a real killer in this game

3 - 0 turnovers. That did us in. And, all three could have been avoided. Without them, we would have had a chance. Clean up some of it and we can still win next week and the week afterwards.

Cleaning up the TO’s will certainly help, but game philosophy is the big problem. Utah comes in and their objective is to dominate the line of scrimmage and for the most part they did. Utah runs the ball down your throat on 2nd and two, BYU gets cute and tries to throw and ends up with a pick 6. Who is the big dog? Utah-BYU needs that mentality. Wilson scrambling for his life and doing it well most of the time. Hundley running the offense efficiently. BYU needed to pound the line of scrimmage and show the Utes who the big dog is. Bringing Hall in was a mistake inside the 5. Go into Tennessee with a chip on your shoulder and quit with the 3 man rush. Mendenhall a much better D-coach imo

Well, just look at the predictions to see who knows football. Couple of issues: the TD call was correct. Ball broke the plane before it left his control. The Zach slide targeting no call was correct. He can’t fake a slide for one step and then go down and expect a call. The defensive penalties are really starting to annoy me. Of course i have been calling for a firing of the DC for 3 years. How do you play a 4-3 for most of the first half and give up 40 yds rushing and then mysteriously morph into a 3-4 without being forced into it by a successful passing attack from the Utes? We are just a dumbly (is that a word) coached defense! Grimes scripts out his plays and won’t circle back to plays that work until he gets through his progression. He needs to loop back and revisit plays that work before he forgets about them. I am 100% with those of you who notice that Tyson Williams and Katoa are great runners between the tackles but NOT on sweeps. Grimes did this last year also. He doesn’t get it. For as old of a team as we are, we have very little discipline. That is a coaching issue! Utah probably should have won this game 21-18 or 21-20. But most of the issues that kept BYU from excelling are self inflicted!!

The reason Hundley ran the offense well is he never had any pressure on him. We never blitzed. 3 rushers will never get there. Nor are the holes plugged up. Why did we change from the first half. We stopped the run in the first half. Tackling was an issue. We can cure that problem.
Our offense was moving the ball well enough to score. Bad silly plays at the wrong time. We out played Utah in the first half. We simply didn’t have the ball in the second half.

Great write up Hawk. Sitake spoke to this last night, Williams saw the ball 3 times in the first half, that has to change. Should of been a close game and made Witt take some risk, instead we GIVE them the lead and they gas our D out and run out the clock. Clock management is a thing and Grime will hear about it big time.

Mandel single handedly took a close game and ruined any chance. They did not throw the facemask flag so much as the haymaker Mandel threw to get the flag.

Thawk,
I agree with what you said EXECPT the targeting comment.
Watching it as someone who has officiated and been taught to watch for targeting, I can say that Wilson actually stumbled on his way to slide, but the hit actually took place when Wilson was sliding.
Second, if you notice where the contact happened, it was above the the sternum.

Third, if you remember a couple of years ago, Kia Nucca was called for the same thing. So there is presidence for the call.

Take it for what you want, but that is my view.

Will you stop saying Wilson stumbled. He tried to stay up and run but wasn’t able to.
