ISU, biggest win of the year by a mile

1 Lets get to it…no team in D1 history has beat a ranked team with 29 turnovers until BYU pulled it off.

2 That is only the 2nd time ISU has been beat at home in 2 years…Yes, they have been impossible to beat at home until BYU…

3 The answer to #1, how did we win with 29TOs…with 52-24 rebs and 17 offensive boards

4 BYU outshoot ISU from 3land 11-8

5 Richie S. I marvel that all those flailing arms and legs blows by other players, always around the ball, it will be hard to keep you away from the NBA

6 Mag on D has been the difference ever since he started mid season. I have beem saying this for a month, BYU is way better on D because of Mag. He makes us a contender. Added bonus, he is shooting 40% from 3

7 Hall is 100% back, I just like him over Demin when it comes to getting points. I saw a lot of joy out there on ISU’s court.

8 Keba was a foot above those sloooow big boys 15 rebs. That OT swat was a POTY material

9 I am 100% in on BYUs chances. Still cannot fathom BYU beating #10 ISU on the road with 29 turnovers

Fantastic win, but a very weird game. Twenty nine turnovers and BYU overcomes that with a 52-24 margin in rebounding. That’s nuts. Team showed a lot of grit. Iowa St. ran the most effective trap I have ever seen and BYU never did solve it. The ISU coach said they sacrificed size during their comeback for quickness and that accounted some for the weird stats. Anyway you slice it a win is a win and when you beat a top ten team at their place that’s huge no matter what the stats look like.

From what I am reading it looks like we are going to see them again our very first game in the conference tournament based on how the seedlings are going to shake down as things stand right now. They will play the winner of a game involving a low seed and if they win we get them again right off the bat.

I’d say the only better defense was Houston’s. I’m sure we will solve their defense by then. Utah will try the same thing if they are smart. I think what happened was we burned ourself out pushing the ball up the court for 30 minutes along with our tough defense. The last 10 minutes we mostly walked the ball up the court into the trap. We have to push the ball up with smart passing getting into our offense quickly. That’s what we did in the runs we had. Then, went away from it. Tried to do our football thing and run time off the clock too soon. Playing it to lose. We won!

Huge difference from last year is defense. They were excellent last night.
Kiera, mag, steward and Saunders.
Steward and mag really neutralize the opposing star guards as well as anyone
Pope way underutilized steward last year imho.
I want another crack at Houston!!!

Utah may try what ISU did but it would be a disaster. They don’t have the quickness to pull it off. They are very big. No starter under 6’6”. If they are smart they will utilize their size. They should try to slow the game down and pound it inside. I think the only way they win is if BYU has a big letdown. BYU is simply way better, but it could happen. BYU could come out flat and Utah could play the game of their lives. That sort of thing happens. It also appears the game will have no bearing on B12 tournament seeding. My hope is that BYU is as motivated as they have been the last 7 games because it is a rivalry game. If so they should win.

1st time in D1 history, that a 29 turnover team beat a ranked team. And to do it on the road???
And to do it in ISU’s gym, where they had lost exactly 1 time in two years.

Would love to agree with you but the refs could of called a foul or multiple fouls on every possession, ISU was playing that hard. Everyone was getting a straight arm or a shove at every possession. Throughout the game, I commented, “You could call a foul on every play”.

Tom L and I both agree that Hall was miles ahead of Demin in ball care, who can score and get the offense engaged. Demin has got to knock off the lazy passes.

100%, At least KY knows what to work on in Practice. It would seem that either BYU worked on the FTs or maybe just get the ball into Richie’s hands cause he is dialed…12 FTs in a row. That is how you beat a team on their floor

Credit ISU on roaring back, they are goooood but I think BYU exposed ISU’s inside game. Their bigs are slow. 52-25 rebs- nobody saw that coming

As I say to Jim every game, stop focusing in on the refs. Learn to adjust to how the game is played and then win regardless. All a team can do is control their actions and responses.

BYU is on a mission…and that does not include no name Utah. We are going to fire away. but Mag on Madson. Keba on Lovering. And win by 20

Almost hyperventilated last night watching losing a 21 point lead. My wife just kept shaking her head (at me).

My calendar the last couple of months has revolved around when the next game is.
Haven’t been this sucked into BYU bball in quite a while.
This is fun, isn’t it!!!
And won’t end after this year!
Fish, I’ll add to your prior declaration: Hill and now KY for Presidents!
