McCae Hillstead could this guy be the answer?

Careful about your words then

Kettle, meet Pot

Being critical and dislike are very different. I love Dave McCann, I just don’t read him to find out the entire picture. As you say, Both Harmon and McCann are BYU homers and Jay Hill will be more palatable because he is not afraid to point out when problems exist.

One of the reasons why I post here or read posts here, as a fan, is to find out the truth. You, Floyd, tend to do what I Look for when posting, you are not afraid to go against the grain when you have a point to make.

Now back to QB race. One thing that got me looking at Hillstead closely was a line from his throwing coach , Dustin Smith of QElite, "Dustin Smith of QBElite, who has worked for years with Hillstead, told me Hillstead would definitely find a spot at BYU and be in the pecking order to start. A day later on ESPN 960 radio, Smith reiterated his thoughts, telling the audience Hillstead would find a role and spot at BYU.

QBElite instructors over the years have included Ty Detmer, Mark Brunell, Kurt Warner, Koy Detmer, Brandon Doman and Max Hall.

“I think McCae is going to come in there and he’s going to take the starting spot this year. He’s gonna come in and turn heads right away,” Smith told host Ben Criddle."

So I posted his highlights. And they were very “Jaron Hallish”. The kid can run. his short throws were dimes so he can move the chains. Don’t know much on his long balls but it makes me feel much better about this coming season. We all went through the last 4 games with Jake Retzlaff, they were putrid. His balls were all over. Losing to OU and OSU are in my book damming. Granted this kid had to do what his OC called so it is more of how we all feel about AROD but still…We gift wrapped these wins for OU and OSU. Just terrible coaching as well as QB play.

Thanks for the explanation, I am still on the fence with Retzlaff.

Were his last four games caused because he is not a good QB or was it because ARod is a control freak who won’t let his QB adjust to game situations?

You do not become a JUCO #1 QB by performing poorly. That is what is confusing me, he is a mobile QB who was basically told to stay in the pocket.

I would love to see Jake get a chance to do play the way that is best for him, not ARod morbid Offensive schemes.

What words? That the Church which owns BYU, KSL and Bonniville International who hired Dave McCaan to broadcast games for BYU?

Or that Dave McCann won’t bite the hand that feeds him?

Neither of these two things is saying the Church is corrupt. Remember, according to Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf, “The Church would be perfect only if it were run by perfect beings. God is perfect, and his doctrine is pure. But He works through us—His imperfect children—and imperfect people make mistakes.” While God is perfect; his followers sometimes make mistakes. We should be able to distinguish between his pure doctrine and human failings in order to stay true to the faith.

nope…Retziaff was all over the place with his passes, sooooo, as a coach, you have to find schemes that will work for your QB. Retziaff also would cut and run on many plays…until the other team caught on and shut him down in 2nd halfs (OSU) In short, the game was way too fast for him. You just can’t teach experience.

In hind sight, AROD would of been better served to use both Slovis on critical downs as well as Retsziaff but then we can’t go back in games and replay a goal line down to win. As I and others have said over and over. AROD is just not a good coach.

Mark it down. I’m saying McCae

I am not a big McCae fan, I am not sure he was that good at USU, what was their record again last year? 6-7!

Not sure why you are so high on him, but I think the others are as good if not better than Hillstead.

USU from top to bottom wasn’t that good. Bring him in to a much better team all around and he certainly can be a better player than you think.
