Floyd and JCoug do that all the time. Their minds go faster than their mouths.
All I said was Trump would save the ncaa as a joke.
then of course, Scott got into politics. I just obliged him.
And No Scott, Jim and I dont always do this.
The Hopper says whatever he wants to say and if he finds facts that fit his narrative he uses them. If someone else provides facts that go against his narrative he dismisses those facts. He acts like a liberal on this board, which is strange because he is so anti liberal.
I said I was going to try and be nicer but he’s not helping at all.
bingo!
Was going to say that Reagan and Tip O’Neill would trash each other on TV but get together over a beer and work on the nation’s problems. I fished and caught strippers off the watering hole that they would meet at in Chattem Mass.
I would agree if you actually knew what constitutes facts. Like, Sermins is against BYU because he’s a born again Christian. And, AJ isn’t LDS either. These aren’t facts.
You contradicted yourself again.
This is getting ridiculous.
I’m trying to come up with some ideas for why Sermins is such a great referee when he isn’t doing a BYU game. What happens to him when he’s on the floor in games BYU is playing? Larimer gave a pretty good summary of it. I just want to find out why, that’s all.
Instead of contradicting yourself (knowing what a fact is or is not) saying that AJ not being LDS isn’t a fact. Actually that is a fact. He isn’t LDS, right? It’s irrelevant because the team he plays for happens to be the sponsored institution of the LDS church. I think that is a fact, right?
Lastly, I apologize to anyone who feels like they are being bullied with my comments. I maintain that we are all free to express our opinions whether we believe that anyone else will like those opinions or not. Everyone is free to agree or disagree. That is the point of a forum and I’m not the only one who has said this. I only want BYU to get better and win games. I believe there are a lot of things that could have been done differently to possibly change and improve from where they are now. I know with Richie it would have been different but it is hard to say how much different because the evidence doesn’t prove it. I hope it more than know it.
Lastly #2, I’m way too invested.
You have made it clear that because Sermins is a born again Christian, he hates BYU and will not call a foul for BYU. In fact, you say he smiles and jumps for Houston when they score. AJ is a born again Christian so why doesn’t he call fouls when AJ is being fouled as you say he is? You put your own foot in your own mouth. Now chew vigorously.
As far as your so-called apology, you don’t allow others to have their opinions. Aro and Floyd both stated that KY said he had simplified the defense so that everyone could play more as a team defensively. Yet, you go off again in another post in another thread. And, continuously on our texting. It’s like if you don’t come up with something, then nobody can say it.
Wow, you really feel like you are being bullied. I guess that is something I need to apologize for again. Am I a moderator on this board? How do I not allow others to have their opinions?
Don’t be so fragile. You have never been afraid to state your opinions, so why not now? I don’t think it is fair for you to blame me for something that you can’t seem to deal with. Please share your opinions. I think you are right on a lot of things and I even say as much. I also happen to think you are not right on some things. No need to feel bullied or hurt over it.
Also, there is no need to make wild accusations in a public forum. If I said something inappropriate I have apologized for it. I think people are allowed to make a mistake, aren’t they?
Of you it is required to forgive all. You claim that is something you do, so do it. I stated that I have a friend (someone I have known since grade school and through high school) that thinks I am a good person but that tells me I am going to end up in hell… it’s true, he told me that, so you don’t need to call me a liar.
I have been trying to figure out why a high level official like Sermins has trouble being totally objective when he officiates BYU games. It is okay to throw out ideas and opinions and apologizing when something is a little over the top. Honestly, what is your problem with all of that?
All I know is that Kevin Young asked the same question as Jim..
Houston got away with fouling Dybantsa too much, BYU coach says – Deseret News
In the Houston game, Coach Young felt that many of the turnovers were the result of fouls, and when AJ and Wright attacked the middle, very few calls were made. That isn’t my interpretation — that’s from Coach Young.
On the BYU point, Jim said he doubted that BYU “dumbed down” the scheme. That’s actually correct — they simplified it to help the team operate more cohesively. Simplifying is not the same as dumbing down.
And if you look at how I addressed Jim on that topic, my approach was respectful and non‑confrontational. I provided a source as well.
You might consider using a similar tone rather than defaulting to a contentious one.
I have felt that Houston gets away with a lot fouling. I have thought that ever since BYU has been in the Big 12. Nothing will change with how Houston plays unless the officials call fouls when they are committed. Almost all the teams in the league are physical, but Houston is a bit over the top sometimes, and it works for them.
Coach Young is used to the NBA game where the officials don’t allow the stars to get mugged. Dybantsa will probably be an instant star in the NBA based on how the games are played and officiated. Maybe even more of a star than he has been this year.
Ever since I watched the video highlights of AJ when BYU was recruiting him I have believed that he has the potential to be a Lebron james or Michael Jordan kind of impact player. Given the right situation I still believe that to be true. The best Big 12 teams, who play defense at a high level, cannot stop him with double and even triple teams. He makes everyone else on BYU a better player. Even if he doesn’t reach Jordan or Lebron status, he will most certainly be a Kevin Durant, Tracy McGrady or Kevin Garnett level player in the NBA. He is as much of a sure thing as any player in the last 20 years.
There used to be joke that the only person who could hold Michael Jordan below 30’points in a game was Dean Smith. Jordan was a great player in college, but was immediately an even bigger star in the NBA if my memory serves me correctly. He wasn’t the number one pick in. the draft when he came out. I think he was number 2. A guy named Sam Bowie was picked number one and he never amounted to much on the NBA.
Yep, Portland selected Sam Bowie that year as the #1 pick and they have been hating themselves ever since! ![]()
Portland had selected Clyde the Glide Drexler the year before so they drafted Bowie thinking it fit the team better. Of course, Bowie was an injury riddled bust and MJ became the best player in the history of the world. Those of us in Portland are still bitter about that.
Sam Bowie was an elite talent and skilled center. I believed he would have done Wilt Chamberlain type numbers. But, he injured himself the first year and never did get back his playing capabilities. Really a sad thing too.
