Scouting USC @ Conn

USC is very tall, Reminds me of the Nevada team of last year when everyone as 6’5 or taller. As in the the Nevada team, there are two brothers, the Mobley brothers, very tall and very tough around the rim.

They have a very good group of 4 players to compliment them including Tahj Eaddy, transfer out of Santa Clara that BYU is very familiar with.

USC is going to drive inside to draw players to the guard then throw up an ally oop for a dunk or an easy bucket or outside for a 3. They are not very good from 3 but very physical.

They will play a lot of zone with all their length to cut off passing lanes, Cal Bapt put up 41 three attempts so BYU will have open looks and with our length in Haward and Haarms, BYU should be tough on the boards.

If BYU can make 3s, should be a win. Vegas has BYU by 3. I won’t argue with it.

So, we will either win by the 3’s or die by the 3’s.

Right now BYU has three areas they need to work on. We are a turnover machine, that needs to stop now

BYU does not contest 3s very well and we allow teams to drive to the hoop, that will change as Pope solidifies his lineup. Too many substitutions lead to breakdowns in defense.

That’s why practice is important. And that’s where the coach figures out who to play in games.
