Used to be people invented and discovered things because they were enlightened and curious. Do you think Edison discovered the light bulb because he wanted to get rich or be memorialized?
Edison made the first public demonstration of his incandescent light bulb on December 31, 1879, in Menlo Park. It was during this time that he said: “We will make electricity so cheap that only the rich will burn candles.”
The primary motivation for people discovering things today is wealth and fame. People want to be recognized and popular… in our society that means money and fame. A lot has changed in the last 150 years.
Many of Esison’s Inventions were from scientists he hired. But, those scientist and inventors were barred from taking anything except their salaries. Edison needed money just like anyone else. He was embattled with Tesla and others. That takes money. Even in those days.
But, again, these companies have the God-given right to want and need what their desires are. All God asks in return is to love their neighbor. Do these corporations give back to their communities? Yes!
All you would have to read is my email list of supposed doctors trying to unclog your arteries with their newest amazing discovery or the latest cure for cancer or a hundred different malady cures. Enough to make you apathetic
