Agree completely!
That would be a big get. We would need one more point guard unless the coach is going to groom Baker into a point guard coming off the bench. Now we just need to have Saunders return and we have a potential final 4 team. I would like to see another big come in for injury concerns.
Yep and Hall signs with Virginia Catchings with North Carolina
Catchings is a loss. I liked his upside. He will get lost at NC.
Not sure he liked living in Provo. He never seemed to get hyped up like his teammates did, but that’s just conjecture. Lots of ability, though. Interesting game /Lakers/Mavericks. Standing ovation before and after Doncic’s 45 point masterpiece. Chants of “fire Nico”
He should go home to IU…but as an IU grad perhaps I am a bit biased…NC is a mistake I think, though his connection to the coach there seems like something he would do with his introverted nature.
Yeh I wish him the best of luck! Sometimes Provo is a cultural shock for some of these kids. IMO he is a long ways from NBA ready, but he has all the tools
I absolutely despise that the SEC won the Natty!
14 out of 16 teams. Ruining college sports by poaching the best teams and ESPN’s coco $$$ SEC/Big 10 contracts.
Was rooting for Houston all season long
Well, next year, we should be able to root for BYU to win it all. The key will be to bring all the talent together working well together.
Could have been the BIG12, ACC, SEC.. I don’t believe the SEC proved any superiority here and I don’t let it keep me up nights!
Winning the national championship is such a tough thing to do and the odds are microscopic. BYU needs to maintain their offensive game and drastically improve their team defense, quickness and depth underneath. I look forward to seeing the progress for BYU next year. They will never have a better coaching staff.
No question the losses to Houston and to Bama were because of defence…The O is more important to winning, but against the best teams the defence needs to be amongst the best.
Legrand RIchards married my Mom and Dad in the Salt Lake temple in 1961. They had always loved sharing that. Sheesh, Gordon B. Hinckley ordained my Dad a bishop back in 1972.
We live in a different world today. Yes, there is still some good and as long as we keep trying there still will be but to compare the way things were 50 years ago to today?
There was no reason to be dishonest. The love of money is the root of all evil.
Not just that they won but the way they won. The whole thing reeked of impropriety. I’m happy that Houston had a small chance to win or tie at the end but the odds were certainly not in their favor. How often does a team hit a last shot to win? It’s way less often than people may think and honestly pretty rare.
Tellling yourself that is what keeps you from being up at night? It doesn’t matter what we “believe” because the powers that be will see to it that they do prove superiority. It will happen again in next years NCAA tourney, wait and see.
The whole thing feels weird and hypocritical to me. Everyone talks about how certain teams didn’t deserve to be in like UNC and their AD was the committee chairman and how the SEC had WAY too many teams in the tournament and people backed it up with stats for teams that didn’t make it like West Virginia, etc. and every year it’s the same. Then we watch the tournament unfold and we get to a championship and everyone forgets all that and pretends like it was all good and there were no issues and then the SEC team somehow pulls off this incredible comeback, purely on their own merit, and we marvel about it and then start talking the same way about next year… and rinse and repeat.
I don’t get it but I guess I’m the only one who doesn’t.
I guess I don’t get too upset about things that happen in the world of athletics. If I did, I’d probably be ranting all the time. I can’t really see any difference between the SEC and the ACC or the BIG 10. It’s all about money anymore. Even at BYU, in order to compete, we need to put out big NIL money. In reality, and the scope of life, I try and look for the feel good stories, of which there aren’t enough. I watched the Lakers/Mavericks game the other night. For some reason, in struck me as a feel good story and I didn’t feel like I was wasting my time
Ring from the Jewish faith, LeGrand Richards book “Israel Do You Know” was a big hit with me. Great insight in that book.
The thing with BYU and the NIL, they are doing it the right way. We get players they other schools are willing to pay them a lot more money. We attempt to build character and look for kids with good character too. Demin and AJ are good examples as some of the new transfers as well. Demin is still going to pursue his college degree from BYU.
Yeh there is a reason that I’m a big BYU fan and not just because I’m an alumnus. I believe there intent is good and in a world with conflicting values, I find it refreshing that character is important!
You are on an island by yourself
Funny how it was the Big 12 that was always the one conspiracy theorists complained about. Before that, ACC. Now the SEC and Big10. Next, the WCC . The NIL and transfer portal is simply mixing things up.
Some want the best 68 teams to compete for the NCAA title. Others want a balance between conferences too. The answer? AI will figure it out, be the referees, lead the government and so on. It’s the year 2525 a bit too soon
