In each case above, every (what about) team mentioned is in the top half of the 128 teams that could fit into a P5 conference.

Every (including, but not limited team to) team is a P5 conference team that is rated below those G5 teams that are ranked in the top 64 teams of the 128 teams as rated by ESPN

Note that Boise State and BYU are at the top of the list for the next two teams available for P5 conference expansion.

Boise State is not on the top of the list. Notre Dame, San Diego State, Colorado State, or even UNLV rank higher than Boise State as far as what they bring to the table.

KC,

The blogger states that there is NO T E A M G O O D E N O U G H
and Boise State is at the very top of that list of teams that is good enough, followed by BYU and the rest is way below us, but still above many P5 teams that are already in a P5 conference.

We are not talking here about having your own TV network or TV contract with ESPN or other, nor are we talking about facilities, or location, or nation wide following, or wealth.

We are talking about a team good enough to compete successfully with other P5 teams.

Using the teams that you state:

#31 Boise State #45 BYU #83 SDS # 102 Colorado St. # 125 UNLV:

As you can see, SDS, Collorado St. and UNLV does not qualify as teams that are good enough to compete against 12 other P5 teams in a season. The only two teams that are qualified are Boise State and BYU, followed way behind by the others that I mention in my post above.

ND is already considered a P5 team with all the benefits of a P5 conference team. They do not belong on your list.

You are confusing college football ranks with what was meant by top of the list for expansion. That involves more than just football. TV market size and other sports would be considered.

Russ,

I agree with you that TV market size and other sports would be considered in addition to those things that I point out.

That does not mean that you disregard those important things that I do point out.

We must look like a P5 team; We must act like a P5 team; We must program like a P5 team; We must avoid doing anything that resembles a G5 team.

Big 10 just announced 2 hours ago that no Big 10 team may ever again schedule an FCS team starting in 2016. SEC will soon follow and once that happens, the rest of the P5 conferences will adopt that code.

When if comes time for expansion into the Big 12, they will chose Houston and UCF over us unless we avoid programing FCS teams and a weak schedule to make us look good, (only to ourselves).

It’s not a bad idea. We have gotten away from the idea that the best teams are determined by winning the other best teams. We came, falsely, to believe, that we can look good by programing enough weak teams that we know we can beat, in order to look good. We seem to be the only ones left now that think programing FCS teams will make us look good.

Just say no to programing FCS teams, regardless of what the reason is or who’s fault it is… or watch even more empty seats and fewer Donors at LES.

Don’t forget post season P4 play offs (Baylor/TCU/Ohio State) Weaker schedule kicked two out in favor of a lower ranked team with a tougher schedule and with no FCS teams.
