5 guys that improved their stock in fall camp

BYU football: Who shined during preseason training camp? – Deseret News

I remember back in the Bowl game vs. SMU. true fr. Sol-Jay Maiava-Peters was BYU’s surprise starter at quarterback to replace an injured Jaren Hall. not only was he a giant surprise but little known running back, Hinckley Ropati had some eye popping runs.

After a season ending injury, Ropati is back. With LJ Martin injured and no word about if he is 100%, I am excited to see Ropati healthy again. This guy always gets positive yardage.

LJ Martin says he’s 100%.

If you want to listen to some interesting take on Fall Camp, how the season will go and who is what on the team,
You watch Sports Nation season preview show last week (I think Thursday show).

Then go directly to the Hans Olsen interview (he is the new radio “color guy” for BYU).

Hans has never been shy of criticizing the coaches or players for what happens on the field. So, I would take his comments a little more credible than some of the other talking heads for BYU sports.

But he brings up an interesting point about Beatty (sp?) getting more sacks. He comments about how if the other guys do their jobs based on what a defensive coach told him, then Beatty should be up around 10-12 sacks.

He talks about in 18 years of covering Coach Hill, he has never seen the guy “fail”, last year was a bit of a hiccup,. but he expects Hill to have the defense ready to go full throttle.

Time will tell of course, but thought the interview was pretty good.

I would believe Hans Olsen

Hill in my view did not fail. 3 and outs were most of our failure. Just look at the time of posession each of the last 5 games
