Arizona in game

Most alumni are fans from which school they have attended. I believe Hopper is a BYU alumni. I wouldn’t call people that post on this site-experts by any stretch of the imagination. There are a couple that have more critical information about what’s going on in the program and that’s beneficial, but experts-sorry-not

Just so you know this statement is a pile of you know what. I think the Hopper needs to read a post multiple times to even have an outside shot at understanding what the person wrote. If someone else got this from what I wrote then I need to do a better job of explaining my perspective. I don’t think the Hopper is accurate with this comment, probably just having a bad monday because he went to church yesterday and wore his BYU necktie and people harrassed him.

Read what you wrote. Maybe you didn’t write clearly your intent. After all, you were going through a meltdown

That is what I said. What part of it don’t you understand? You root for BYU because you went to the school but you also became a member of the church as a result of going to BYU. Is it possible that you are so passionate about BYU for BOTH of those reasons? Is that a stretch? No, I don’t think so. That is why you are so Jekyll and Hyde, because you are a BYU fan for more than one reason and that makes you unreasonable on occasion. You mix the church in A LOT when you are talking about the team.

I don’t follow the team because I became a member of the Church. It’s irrelevant. How many former players on BYU still are avid fans of BYU sports? A lot of them. And, I haven’t met any members fans of BYU because it is owned by the Church. Members who did not go to BYU may become fans for a various reasons. Not because they are members of or not.

As far as mixing in the Church when talking about BYU, I’m surprised your lack of logic and reason. As an example: If A, then B. Is it true that it would follow that If B, then A? No. It might. But it is illogical to conclude that it has to be A.

Totally and absolutely not the case. You haven’t been paying attention to who is at the games you attend, particularly the smaller venues like Pepperdine, LMU, UCSB or others nearby. A lot of the fans are there to support the team because it represents the church they are members of. I happen to be someone who does that as well as being a fan of basketball, football and vollleyball. Once again, not saying there is anything wrong with that. I actually like it when I see fans who are basically clueless about the sport they are watching but cheer for the Cougars regardless. The fact that you won’t acknowledge that there is a part of you that attends games for the same reason is not only strange, but a little disingenuous. Sorry you don’t completely understand who you are. I would put money on it that every fan who is a member of the church here would acknowledge that as being part of their motivation to support/watch BYU sports. Kinda like catholics rooting for Notre Dame.

So now that I have explained myself for a third time are you going to continue arguing or will you accept my explanation and give it up?

I’m sorry if you believe this but I do not attend or watch games of BYU because I’m a member of the Church. The first 3 football games I attended, I did so as a non-member. I cheered for my school.

Derwin Gray is a Christian minister who played for BYU and still cheers for BYU. Not because he’s a member of the Church. There are other, like one on BYUSN, that played DB at BYU but is not a member that cheers for BYU. Many others as well. Are there some who do so because BYU is a Church owned school, sure! Like you. But, not me. Can you understand this?

So when you attend a volleyball game it is actually because you love the sport of volleyball so much… it has nothing to do with the fact that BYU is playing. Likewise you attend lots of college football and basketball games that don’t involve BYU because you love football so much.

You are misunderstanding my point… like that has never happened before.

I love how you all tell me I don’t understand how Hopper operates and then I watch you get sucked into his trolling. if you want to win don’t let him set the argument. once you do he can move the goalposts where ever he wants. hold him to his own logic and watch him flounder, or you set the boundaries and you box him in. also don’t let him suck you in. if you react to his irrational argument you have lost, but if you choose to then you will not react with emotion and he can’t move the goalposts.

@JCoug I know you can do better then this he’s just a troll

What are you talking about. I cheer for BYU when they play because I’m true to my school. I don’t cheer because I’m a member of the Church. Why is that so hard to understand? I can separate the work of the Lord with sports.

I have been doing this for a LONG time. I know what I’m up against and I win every time. He is a long time poster who trolls like a fiend. So yes Fern, you are learning the way of the Hopper quickly. How you move forward at this point is all up to you.

But, I’m not the troll and you know it. I give my honest opinions and some can’t handle the truth.

Not exactly accurate here. You give your honest opinion, that is what some people can’t handle because most of the time it is contrary to what someone else has said. You like to deny others opinions (which is often truth) and argue it. Perhaps it is you that can’t handle the truth on occasion… or frequently, depending on the perspective.

There’s a difference between arguing and debating. I’m debating not arguing. I question something is not arguing. Then questioning my question is arguing.
