Read my response to him…Having no cancer in his body as Floyd States is the same thing as cancer free or free of cancer.
I just read through every post in this thread and I didn’t see a single one where Floyd claimed that Dave Rose had no cancer in his body.
I’m not sure where grasshopper is getting this from. Grasshopper needs to read back through this thread and look at all 21 or 22 posts. Floyd never wrote what you said he did.
Just trying to be honest here.

So, does this sentence mean he is or isn’t cancer free? Not only does it mean he is cancer free, he’s been cancer free for 10 years. Go ahead and deny it. Wouldn’t surprise me.

Okay Floyd…you are correct. I posted it but it was fun anyways.
However, Rose doesn’t currently have cancer. The tests he takes doesn’t mean he has cancer anymore than when you have your prostate exam every year that you have prostate cancer. The PSA is a test to make sure you don’t have cancer.

As for the cancer, you are never really “Free”, it is always there, just not active…
It runs in my family, all but one person of my mother’s family died of cancer… Horrible disease.
What do you mean “it’s” always there? The cells? Or the possibility of cancer returning?
There’s no way for doctors to know that all of the cancer cells in your body are gone, which is why many doctors don’t use the word “cured.”
If cancer cells do come back, it usually happens within the 5 years following the first diagnosis and treatment, but it varies with the individual.
Some cancer cells can remain unnoticed in the body for years after treatment. If a cancer returns after it has been in remission, it’s called a “recurrence.”
It’s normal to be concerned that this will happen to you. Every situation is different, and there’s no way to predict what will happen.
One of my best friends at work got breast cancer, she beat and it went into remission, about 8 yrs. later it came back (in a different area) and it eventually took her life.
That is why I said that it is never really gone…
If it’s in a different part then it’s a different cancer. Not a reoccurring cancer just like my father. Each of his 3 cancers were independent of each other. What I think could be said of many is that their immune system is inadiquate as they get older. The likelihood of getting cancer as we age goes up as our body breaks down.
I’m glad you mentioned the 5 year mark that I did.
What happens when someone has a serious illness of any kind, they take a defensive posture for the rest of their life. Well, some don’t. Diabetics should lose weight and excercise but usually don’t. Cancer patience take a defensive position. But that doesn’t mean they still have cancer.
So what is it exactly that you want me to do? Should I get the crow ready for you? It might not be bad if you put a little salt and pepper on it.

Well, it was about basketball and why Rose retired and why he was recruiting lazily. Anyway, I have had close friends die recently from cancer and it’s good to be concerned. A former student of mine I stay in contact with through church is a nurse and reminds me to get colonoscopies. She saved my life. Everyone should get it done. Jim???
