Baylor bears vs. BYU

The truth according to Jim. How do you know it is 75%? Maybe 100% or 50%. I agree with Floyd.

It’s called “slower white boys vs. athletes”

It is the makeup of the game. BYU either shoots 3s or runs back cuts, usually beating their guard for an easy score. The ol Princeton back cut because, :“ding ding” We don’t have athletes that can blow by the defender in a straight up one on one basis.

Hall is strong to the basket but a loose canon out there. If Houdini and Robison can get their averages of making 3s going again, BYU is impossible to stop but they are MIA in our Big 12 losses so far.

Johnson does get inside by the back down method and step back that Hopper clirps about but the step back in not going to draw many fouls.

The two Big 12 teams BYU has played, killed BYU on our guards NOT being able to stay in front of his guy, hence a foul from either the guard or now the scrambling center. Cinn feasted on us the 2nd half, Baylor in crunch time. There were a ton of scouts at the Baylor game to watch the Fr. phenom Ja’Kobe Walter and he abused us.

Guys with shower legs just get more fouls so we depend on high volume 3s mixed in with Khalifa’s incredible assist game. Baker was supposed to even the scales somewhat but he is most likely going to sit out the rest of the season (per the news today) bum foot.
To finish out this thought, Only Saunders and Robinson go hard to the hoop and Robinson lacks the muscle to finish, so he finesses nis game with jumpers instead. **BYU ranks dead last a drawing fouls, stats don’t lie so if we are blaming refs…**we would have to chance our game to one that draws fouls.

Boy, that was long winded but it needs to be said. To Jim’s point, Yes, BYU got hoosed or hommered as Tom puts it, NO DOUBT. If BYU plays its brand of ball, we are very good but you have to value possessions AKA, the Randy Bennett method or get a lead and just push it hard because few teams have any kind of bench and BYU has plenty of subs that can score.

Actually it is, Why? because the officials are polled by officiating magazines to see which schools they like and which ones they don’t. These polls are released at the end of the season. BYU never cracks the top 100.

Thus, about 95% of officials don’t give a crap about BYU

Now, you know I completely agree with your post. If I had written it, Jim would discount it like a liberal climate change advocate would discount the real interpretation that the planet heats up first which causes CO2 to rise. Not the other way around. Analogy.
If our 3 point shooting isn’t 38% with over 30 attempts, we lose.

Post a link to one of these polls. I’ve never heard of it and it seems ridiculous that they would even do that. All it would do is give coaches and schools a reason to point out certain officials and prove what we are talking about. It doesn’t matter whether they “like” BYU or not. How a game is called proves that most of the time there is no love for the Cougars. Why do you think Pope slammed down his water bottle? because he knows this but it is still very frustrating when your team is playing really well and they get NOTHING from the refs.

Which lends to the statement I made that BYU is not going to the NCAA tourney. They won’t win close to half of their league games and you will see Pope slam more than one water bottle this season. They won’t get any calls in close games and most of their games the rest of the way will be spent watching their opponents shoot free throws at the end to win, especially the close ones.

The two don’t have anything to do with each other. To overcome the foul differences we have to shoot 32 3s at 38%. The fouls are created mostly because of the quickness and strength of the guards Baylor and Cincinnati have. It’s either we let them score layups or we play tight defense and foul. Has nothing to do with refs hating BYU.

You don’t know what you are talking about. You seem to have selective memory and forget ALL of the times you have pointed out the poor officiating yourself and wondered aloud why officials seem to be more biased against BYU than their opponents. I’m not claiming that officials hate BYU. I am claiming that in the heat/intensity of a game, the officials get caught up in the drama and tend to make calls that favor BYU’s opponents, mostly because of our good boy image and forgiving way. It has been a hallmark of BYU athletic teams across the board, what makes you think it doesn’t exist in basketball?

You just think that but it’s not true. Something you picked up at Nerdoff.

I went to Nordhoff my freshman year, Uncle Rico. My perception of reality is more accurate than yours. You are the eternal, delusional optimist that believes what never comes true. You think BYU is winning a national championship every year. I hope they do well every year but at some point I am able to discern reality and tell it like it is. You never get close to that point.
