Big 12 has some provin' to do

Unfortunately for the Big 12, odds are they will again only get one team into the playoffs. They need to schedule and win pre conference games against top other P4 teams - especially SEC and Big 10. Tough to schedule, tough to win. SEC and Big10 will always get the benefit of “self-profiled prophecy”.
Here’s the games Big 12 teams play against P4s
ASu at Miss St
Baylor Auburn and @ SMU Go Bears! Good scheduling!
BYU Stanford
Cinn Nebraska
Col Geogia Tech
ISU Iowa
KU at Missouri
OSU at Oregon - beat down wont help Big 12 at all
TCU at N. Carolina
UCF SMU N. Carolina
Utah at UCLA Bruins bottom tier in Big 10
WU Pitt
No top 4-5 SEC or Big 10 teams except Oregon.
The deck is stacked against Big 12 getting any real repect until the Playoffs.
And that is a 1 out of 16 (14?) chance.
All we can do is finish high with double diget wins every season for the next 5 years, hopefully some good showings in playoffs and get a good position in the Super Conference, or whatever happens down the road.

Have I ever mentioned that the whole system is pretty much rigged?

The notion of finishing high with double digit wins every season for the next 5 years isn’t going to happen. Hoping for some good showings in the playoffs and good positioning isn’t going to happen and the Super conference may happen but who do you think will be a part of it?

Corruption and money go hand in hand. Why does anyone expect anything different?

Plenty of times. Don’t agree. But, hey, mention it again if it makes you feel happy.

I would say “systematicly stacked” not rigged.
Subtle or no difference you would say?
I concede not much as outcome is the same.
I would say Big 10 and SEC are within the rules - barely - and have the big sports media complicit as it is in their financial self interest to do so.
If it was “rigged “ could be legally actionable. Proof is tough. Think Biden cover up e.g.
Bottom line - and my point originally posted - is just have to prove it on the field.
Which is the Big 12 Commissioner point today, I see

It is really only a question of semantics. I call it rigged, you call it systematically stacked and the Hopper doesn’t call it anything because he doesn’t get it. He is of the larger group of simpleton fans across the country who believe their team has a shot at it every year, when the reality says otherwise. Honestly, BYU winning it in 1984 actually made it a reality from then on. There were so many that simply couldn’t deal with the fact that a no name team won the national championship that the dye was cast or set in stone that “this can never happen again”.

Want proof? Look at the list.

So in the past 40 years, how many teams outside the power conferences have done it? It doesn’t happen and it won’t happen unless you are a long timer that has been sitting at the table grubbing from the money pot.

Does it change my enjoyment of watching BYU play football? Absolutely not. I have accepted the reality of the situation, unlike some pollyanna simpletons (not naming names) who don’t see it or haven’t come to terms with it. The SEC and the Big 10 are the only conferences that will determine who the national champion is every year. Clemson is an anomaly who has been sitting at the table for a long time. They might as well be in the SEC.

That was a simpleton’s view of NCAA football for sure! BYU to this point hasn’t had many unbeaten seasons or even one loss seasons to be claiming a NC. Then, you have to play some good teams as well to be in the mix. The leagues where NC come from have been better teams from top to bottom than the WAC or MWC. I’ll take 1984. A great team. Now that we are recruiting 4 and 5 star players like the big boys, all we have to do is win, win, win.

I did it just for you, hoping you would understand it. I thought you would appreciate getting a simplistic, uncomplicated version of why the national championship for BYU was a one time thing that will NEVER happen again… for BYU or any other team not associated with the Big 10 or SEC. Glad it was helpful for your simple mind.

Never say never or you may have to eat your words. The old foot in mouth disease. I predict BYU will win the NC this year!

I’ll give you 1000 to 1 odds. If they do I’ll give you $1,000 dollars, if they don’t you give me a buck and admit you were wrong. In fact, I’ll waive the one dollar just for an admission of being wrong…

When BYU won the NC in 1985, the powers to be had a cow over it. So, they invented this thing called
They had the bowl coalition (1992), that basically was supposed to take out the “judgement” of voters for NC.
They changed that to the bowl Alliance (1995),
Then came the BCS, which was a joke in itself. There were so many flaws with how the committee chose teams that it became a joke. One year BYU was left out, another year Boise State. Who did they put in it? a school from a P5 Conference. Even when Utah went there, they played Pitt that was like the 3rd best team in the ACC.
Now we have the college playoff series…

One thing you will notice through the whole process, is “who” was in Charge! People from the SEC and BIG10. You cannot deny “Facts”, which another poster seems to be doing with you Jim.

JCoug. I’ll give you better odds than with h. I think BYU is a top 5 Big12 school, so 2 of 5 chance - 40% -chance to go to Conf Champ game. 50/50 to win that game so odds at 20% to go to playoff. 14 teams in playoff. BYU seeding will be biased some so lets make it 1 in 20 chance of winning whole thing.
.2 x .05 = .01 = 1% chance to be National Cham
so I’ll pay you $1 if they don’t win and you pay me $100 if they do.

I think I just proved you’re point without it being truely and completely rigged!
