Big 12 Network possibilities

Does the Big 12 even have a television network. I have heard that the Longhorn network is basically insolvent. They struggle with quality and finances. But they kind of rule the roost in the Big 12. What if you combined the Longhorn network and BYU TV to make a Big 12 network. BYU TV has excellent management, finances and equipment. They are on satelite and are seen in the space station. Doesn’t the Big 12 understand anything about BYU TV and how it could perpetuate viewer ship for the league? If BYU was in the expansion mode for BYU TV why would not they expand their brand by leasing their production facilities, people and trucks to other leagues and teams, to me it should be obvious for increasing perceived value by other leagues and teams. This is top of the line equipment and production capability and management. This would require some thinking out of the box, but it could be very beneficial to the BYU brand and purpose of the institution. The potential for world wide viewer ship is outstanding. Give me some well thought out feed back on this.

I don’t know if this is true but it seems to me that the Big 12 would be leery of having BYUTV do games because of their concern over religious influence. Most of the commercials on BYUTV are related to food storage, help for troubled teens, lawyers who care, studio C and other things associated with utah/mormon culture. I’m not sure how that would work out…

All of the other factors you mention seem to be legitimate.

And would BYUTV be interested in generalizing a good deal of their programming to carry Big 12 sports and related commercials - I suspect not. Think about cigarette and alcohol advertising for one issue.

What types of commercials do you run? I would run life style and vacation type commercials. Mountain outdoors from hiking to sking. Beautiful scenery. That has got to be an eye opener for corn fields and wheat. Mountain fishing, canyon lands, have you ever seen the Milky Way Galaxy at night in the high Uintas? It stretches from horizon to horizon. It is a star gazers paradise. Where are you going without imigination?

Would BYU / the Church want to give up control of BYUTV the flagship for the Church?
