Actually, at 10-2, the offense was quite complementary with the defense and special teams. Now, that’s a real team!
Not all P4 leagues are alike. And yes Fernk it is a difficult question to understand. That is why I simplify the answer.

If it wasn’t for the defense and special teams that record would be more like 7-5 and I’m being generous on that one. The offense was given all the opportunities possible all season long and they still had to be fortunate and catch a lot of breaks just to squeeze out those 3 wins that got them to 10-2. The overall record looks great but anyone who watched the offense knows that wasn’t the reason for the record.
But nobody is interested in that. KS got a long term extension and by default, so will Arod. All we can hope for is a defense and special teams unit that helps the offense get out of it’s own way.
And without the heroics of the offense that scored at the end of many games we would be 4-9. Is there something you don’t understand about the word team? You are making the different parts of the team the letter “I” and I am not buying into that to attack one coach or one player.
I’m not debating why Alabama is in. That was a question of ethics. Duh!

I’m more focused on the Big12 only getting one team into the top 12 with the Big10 got four in. With that, SMU with 2 losses whim we beat gets in. Had Boise gone undefeated I would be okay with Boise in along with Notre Dame.

I guess you aren’t aware that Boise only loss was to the only unbeaten team in college football this season and #1 ranked team Oregon… by 3 points. Yeah, Boise didn’t deserve a spot.

Boise lost to Oregon by 3 points. That is their only loss. They absolutely earned a spot in the college playoffs.

Not a chance… Why would he want to come to BYU and sit behind Retzlaff? When Rose, Huard (two other QB’s from Utah) are transferring as well? He would only have to beat out CAM (if he decides to return).
My guess is that he goes to another school outside of Utah.
Now how about the RB from Utah that is transferring? He would be a good fit for BYU next year with Ropati graduating.

So…If the big 12 either played 8 league games and left one game open for a big 12 semifinals game, BYU vs. colo and ASU vs. ISU, the winner plays in the finals, then the window for 2 teams getting in the playoff becomes a reality.
the other way would be the big 12 sechules no game the end of Feb, leaves the date open for all the tied teams to play before a finals game.
As it is, the Big 12 screwed itself out on the national scene
