Dixon of the Herald laid out his argument for BYU’s toughest games starting with:
1-MSU
Utah
BSU
WVU
UCLA
Miss St
Arizona at #7
Toledo
Cinn
Ut St
SUU
UMass
Here is what I have:
MSU
WVa
Utah
Boise St
UCLA
Arizona
Cinn
Miss St
Utah St
Toledo
UMass
SUU
really, Boise, Utah, West Virginia and UCLA could all be interchanged from 2-5 and I would not argue. The only reason UCLA is not #2 for me is that it is a home game. I really think that Boise will be a tougher game to win than Utah. Cinn will have something to prove so I have them above a SEC team. I also don’t know W Va. very well
I could go:
MSU
Boise
Utah
W Va
UCLA for my first five.
I’ve always thought you can’t really assess how good a team is until 3-4 games are under the belt. Based on week one you have a pretty reasonable list. I would rate Toledo over USU based on what they did last year and maybe over Cincinnati as well. Miss St. will have great athletes and will be rough. Even SEC middle of the pack, and bottom feeders can be tough (remember Missouri last year).
If BYU can beat Utah and win 8-9 games I will be very happy.
