Obviously lots of games to play including UT &A&M on Nov so only one should get into CFP.
Still think 8 from SEC/b10 but can hope committee puts two each from acc and B12.
Best if byu and isu go into champ game undefeated and the hard to not put in two.

I can’t believe we’re not ahead of ND, they’ve had one good win this year beating TX AM, but that was the first game of the year and I think they would beat ND now. the only reasons I see that ND is ahead of us is, one, better name recondition. Two, when they’ve had a decisive win they have killed the other team. something we need to start doing. if we would have run our score beyond 40points people would start seeing us differently.
Same reason 4 other one loss teams are ranked ahead of us-HISTORY. Doesn’t really matter-just keep winning and BYU will be in the playoffs-one loss and it may still happen-2 losses forget it. All you can ask for-control your own destiny
I’ve been thinking about this lately too. It’s funny how now we are in the big boy’s league, how we now feel about teams like we used to be playing one or two big name teams a year. Yet, how we were sometimes ranked above teams who were playing 9 P5 teams. Even winning a national championship in 1984. Roles are now reversed and other teams like Army, Navy, Boise State are in the top 25 beating a bunch of easy teams and maybe one weak P5 team. Or a trap game for a team like Oregon. The old saying, “What goes around, comes around” is happening to us.
I happen to think BYU has a better name recognition than most schools. Just not quite best, yet. We need to stay humble and just out work and prepare for the next game long enough to have a best recognition. Utah will use their bye week to be prepared working hard. We have to do even better.
this video sums up why we didn’t move up past ND. These guys haven’t watch a BYU game this year and just started watching the highlights on youtube with the OSU game. their ignorance about BYU football is maddening.
I am surprised at the 8-0. But I just have a funny feeling that the Big12 isn’t very good. 8-0 is great but if there is a program in this country who will get full of themselves faster than BYU fb I don’t know who it is. Utah has just one game to win this year and it is against BYU. I am not concerned about rankings because they are meaningless if we lose a game and even more meaningless if we win out.
Eight wins is about 3 more than anybody predicted in preseason. Personally I am very surprised. Let’s say BYU finishes 8-5 (loses the rest of their games). An 8-5 record would have been considered well above expectations going into the season. Now it would be a major disappointment. Going into the season my attitude was let’s get football over with and move on to basketball. I Had no expectations whatsoever. Two months later and anything less than 10 or 11 wins will be a disappointment and there are hopes for an undefeated regular season.
I don’t think the Big 12 has any great teams but there are a lot of good teams in the conference and no real bad teams. Every team left on BYU’s schedule is capable of beating them and conversely BYU right now is favored to win the rest of their games. Just keep winning and the rankings will take care of themselves. Rankings is something for fans to talk about at this point in the season. The only thing the team should care about is the next game and then the one after that. Hopefully the coaches will keep them focused. Win out, including the Big12 title game, and a spot in the playoffs is a lock.
Or the league is really good and very even across the board.
