BYU season, odds for each game

If BYU is going to Force Feed Bear Bachmeier for the next 2 months, here is what I see:
BYU Cougars Football Odds & Betting Lines | FanDuel Sportsbook

8/30/25, Portland State- home-easy win, Bear does not have to do much

9/6 Stanford, home, late game under the lights-win, This game gives Bear tons of experience but our D helps hide any flaws Bear has to work on.

9/13 a BYE week, great for a raw QB, more reps.

9/20 ECU on the Road, this will be a huge test for a rookie. ECU QB battle ‘neck and neck’ as spring ball passes halfway point
look for MSU’s transfer, Katin Houser, a RS Jr. to be the starter. could be our 1st loss but I have us at 3-0.

9/27, Colorado, Coach Prime, 8 pm start on the road. back to back road games says BYU loses at least one but then Coach Prime did not start fast last year because of all the new faces. He has a new QB. Prime also had the #2 recruiting class so the talent is there, did we catch them early enough…One of these road games is a loss, too much for Bear .

10/3 WVU at home, 8:30 pm under the lights. win

10/11 @ Az, veteran QB. Win

10/18 Utah at home, look for them to control their offense and cause some Bear TOs, revenge is real. Utah bring in a new explosive OC and a veteran, Dampier, QB dual threat QB. This could be BYU’s 1st home loss. Let’s hope we pull a Utah on Utah.

10/25, @ ISU, Loss

11/3 BYE

11/8 TTU, Road Game, and the highest rated QB in the big 12, Behren Morton, Loss

11/ 15 TCU, Home. TCU had a very quiet 9-win season after starting with jaw dropping losses early. Win

11/22 Cinn, Road Game. Win

11/29 UCF, Home, Win

With Retzlaff, BYU would be sitting undefeated or 1 loss, not having to play K St or ASU, who I see in the Big 12 championship
2nd, I look at Road games, BYU has two very tough games, @ISU and @TTU. Our toughest home games are Utah and TCU but overall, an easier schedule vs. last year’s.

8-4 record most likely does not get us into the big 12 final or a playoff. WE would be playing for a playoff spot if Retzlaff had not broken the honor code. Sets BYU up for a good bowl game and a fantastic next season.

gentlemen, make your bets

Fish, once again I saw your post after I just posted my own on essentially the same topic.
Our big disagreement is the Retzlaff factor. He just wasn’t that good.
But very good analysis, per usual.

I don’t know if he was puking bad, for a top 30 team, just really very average.

My parents went to Stanford. 3 of my 4 older brothers went to Stanford. One of my brothers played varsity rugby at Stanford (yes, a VERY tough dude in his prime back in the 70s at 6’2"/225 when that was big–even had a cup of coffee with Club Racing Rugby in Paris after he graduated). Anyway, he has been a season ticket holder for about 40 years. Now he goes to tailgate and knock back some beers with his buddies then actively roots for Stanford to lose because of what the university has become. Says the administration, faculty, and students hate football. Says the empty stadium every week is the evidence.

I grew up a Stanford fan and knew how to sing the Cal fight song with derisive lyrics. My walls were covered with pictures of Plunkett and Gene Washington. I was accepted to Stanford and THANK YOU KNOW WHO I didn’t go there. Now I root HARD against Stanford for the same reason my whole family does.

It would be just too sweet to see BYU obliterate Stanford with Bear at the helm.

I think 9-3 would be a solid season in a tough league with a new QB with no meaningful experience. I’m 100% on the Bear Bandwagon. Bourget was very mid at Western Mich and Hillstead is wildly fast but was just OK at USU and being mid to OK at WMU or USU doesn’t get me fired up.
