BYU transfer portal needs 2025

Roberts seems 100% sure he will play the bowl game as interviewed in BYUSN. He also said he will have an answer about staying next year or try to go to the NFL in about a week. He could raise his stock a lot by staying while earning more money than as a walk on in the NFL or worse.

BYU has added a transfer defender from the SEC

#2 in the entire state of Utah. big get

It’s very interesting how we seem to get some big players on both sides of the ball now that we are in the Big12 with lots of NIL money. Especially in basketball. Football is coming along. However, with football, it also requires a lot of development from year to year. I think when the brought Bohanan in, they told him this. Had he played this year, we may have gone 12-0. But next year, then what? Bohanan never once bad mouthed BYU or the coaches. Class act for sure!

I think the defense will be great again. I hope the special teams are also getting even better. The offense has a chance of being far improved with a lot of experience in all positions. The line will be the question. Can we get deeper at the OL?

Is it?

Why would any tight end want to play for BYU right now? Unless you are found within the good graces of the OC, you have little chance of developing or getting recognized. Maybe the Duke QB transfer and the OC at Oregon State have told him he is going to see a lot of looks.

It was my understanding from most of your posts that BYU was good on offense and didn’t need to improve, let alone “far improve”. I can’t seem to get a beat on what it is you believe.

You have heard of good, better and best, right? See, here is a perfect example of you disagreeing with me for no apparent reason

Signed Andrew Gentry. Arguably the best OL in the portal and a guy I’ve been told may not last two years at BYU even though he has 2 years of eligibility remaining, because scouts are already saying he may already be “NFL ready.”

Clegg, Gentry, Tausili. I’m impressed.

I was looking at the list of transfers, a good majority of them are 5th year seniors. Which if you have noticed is a trend in college that a lot of fifth year seniors transfer the last year.

I am bummed that Wakely is transferring, he was by far our best Safety. But I can understand why he is moving on.
I do have a question for you:
Why is the NCAA going from 118 scholarships down to 105? I know it had something to do with the court case settlement, but I am not understanding the logic to why that was part of the deal.

can you explain the legalize in English?

I think it’s primarily because under the terms of the settlement the NCAA/congress want to use a type of “salary cap” model, and with fewer players you don’t have to pay as many guys who won’t contribute.

Agreed, Floyd! Wakley was especially good in run support (Wall very solid downfield but just doesn’t hit the way Wakley does).

#2 FS for ASU got beat THREE PLAYS IN A ROW: on the 4th and 13 he, for no reason, just stood there and let a guy run a deep post right behind him, on the 2pt conversion got beat, then got beat the next play for a 25 yard TD.

A Jay Hill DB may get beat once, but never that bad and NEVER three plays in a row.

Thought the same thing! Teams got maybe one big play a game vs. BYU defense. And…look whos coming to play for him.
Projecting the 105-Man BYU Football Roster in 2025
Look at all those Transfer STARS. going to miss Batty Robinson…Clegg’s flip from Utah to BYU and the acquisition of SUU’s Purcell and Texas’ Akana, a former Skyridge High standout, DC Jay Hill said his defense could use another defensive lineman “if we can find the right one,” and maybe a cornerback or two to replace graduating stars Marque Collins and Jakob Robinson.

Why do I have the sneaky feeling that Jay Hill and Gernaro Guilford will have the right DBs and have them ready to roll?

A few corners to watch for:
Mory Bamba (4): caught Travis Hunter from behind when Hunter had a clear path to the end zone. Bamba played more and more as the season wore on (also was hurt a bit early on).
Therrian Alexander III (24): got a lot of snaps for a true freshman and the guys I have spoken with in the program think he is a future star.
Evan Johnson (21): fastest guy on the team, and that’s saying something. I LOVED IT when Shannon Sharpe said BYU was so fast he thought his TV was “glitched” watching BYU pound CU.

Safeties:
FRESHMAN Raider Damuni (3)
FRESHMAN Faletau Satuala (10)
These two were good enough that Hill was willing to risk letting his starting SS Wakley walk…I guarantee BYU has never had two 4 star freshman safeties on the same roster…
Tommy Prassas (22): Got a lot of snaps this year. Big, physical, and fast.
And lest we forget, Mr. Tanner Wall (28), a walk-on who busted the depth chart this year. Not super great in run support, but fast and smart in the back, which is what you need from a FS.

This is assuming we sign NO DBs in the spring portal…

hahaha, saw that

The narration before the Colo game was, “Can BYU’s backs stay with Hunter and Colo”
The narration after the game…■■■■, they fast.

Crew Wakley Discussed Reasons For Transfer From BYU Football
interesting:
Wakely was on Schoolie this past season but was not the 1st season and he was playing as a starter so that factors in. He was butt hurt, and I would be also had this happened

according to the article, Wakely WAS NOT on a scholarship.
that was one reason he left.

I think this all on Jay Hill not wanting to have Wakely split time with Demuni, whose dad works in the AD office.

You are retired so your thinking is too. Good grief Floyd. Everything is a conspiracy to you and Jim

Did you read the article??

Because it mentioned that Wakely was told he was not splitting time next year with Dumuni.

now who is the safeties coach for BYU? oh yea, Hill!

That’s not the conspiracy. The conspiracy has to do with your insinuation about his dad being in the AD department.

You are right, I read that and posted on it earlier this year…brain fart

There is on conspiracy. Floyd has it right. We all know the story. Dumuni was a 4 star recruit coming out of HS. His dad was hired close to when we recruited Raider. He was offered a schoolie out of HS…Wakely was the starter without a schoolie and was told days before the Alamo:
Despite having a lot of game action, Wakley confirmed he was not on scholarship during the 2024 season.

“There’s no doubt in my mind, or anybody on the team’s mind, that I deserved a scholarship,” Wakley said. “I wish I had an answer as to why I couldn’t get one. I can tell the reasons why they were telling me, but, you know, it wasn’t adding up in my head.

“If you look at reps that I had this year and my production … I actually played less than half of the reps on the season. So, when you factor in how many reps I was playing and my production, I think it definitely merited a scholarship. And I wish I had an answer as to why I couldn’t get one, but I guess that’s part of the reason why I was in the portal.”

Hopper, you can’t argue when it is in bold print.
Wakely, "“Just based on the conversations I had with coaches. I was told I wouldn’t be splitting time next year, and if my goal is to get to the next level, it just didn’t seem conducive to my goals and aspirations. So yeah, the decision was kind of made for me there. I just had to get somewhere where I’m appreciated for my qualities and, hopefully, play to the best of my abilities.”

Coaches felt they had better players at Safety so they lost Wakely-straight forward

::: CRICKETS:::

The Hopper (not a grasshopper but rather a cricket) has nothing to say. There is just a lot he doesn’t get. It can’t be too complicated, has a hard time seeing the big picture in any situation.
