Houston in game

Stop while you’re behind…

Well, it was a Great Season this year with
10–2. Which I am happy. BUT BYU were really bad on third down conversion this year! That was ugly and OC ARod should be fired and coach Kalani Sitake should
be on a hot seat for not doing anything about him.
Last week against ASU on first drive we went for it on fourth and nine at near midfield and failed. And all season long, many stupid and dumb play, calling while listening to the game on the radio! On earlier thread today, Tom mentioned that Chase Roberts and including Puka Naukua didn’t get enough touch like they should be getting. I sure hope one of these days that Jay Hill will take over the BYU head coach someday.
Enough said

As I responded to a couple people about Roberts and Nacua, both required lots of double coverage. There were other receivers this year that are quicker, faster and have plenty of talent. What was great this year is they all were used well dispersing the ball to them. You think Roberts could have made those moves Lassiter did against OKS? I don’t think so.

I would like to see more use with the tight ends. But Hill looked slow because he put all that weight on. And when thrown to him, he dropped some passes.

When we had the starting RBs and healthy OL, we looked good. Injuries in key spots makes the offense do things differently and often less successfully. I think ARod did all that could be done. The players often didn’t come through. Missing assignments, missing holes, dropping passes and other things as well. 10-2 and you are complaining. If we were 12-0 and won it all you would still be calling for Sitaki and ARod to be fired. That’s really sad.

My direct quote:

your response:

Since you have failed yet again to provide proof of something that YOU POSTED, that is why I said you lied. Because Tom NEVER SAID BYU would have 3 wins and you could not back it with any of his posts.

do you even know how hearsay work? don’t start using big words if you don’t know what they mean just to intimidate the person. the way you use exaggerator makes me think you don’t even know what that means.

so please answer his question did Tom say BYU would go 3 and 9.

if this was the case why did we have a 5game skid where we were struggling? are you saying that we would have done worse?

who were these players that each team got back that made so much of a difference?

so per usual you recommend willful ignorance. nothing to see her folks BYU is the bestest team ever.

no one is saying it wasn’t a good year. I already eat crow on that, but the offense is still very suspect. if we didn’t have one of the best defenses in the country we would have been 3 and 9, announcers wouldn’t have been calling us the cardiac cougars. we all want BYU to be the best that is why we are pointing it out. we won’t be the best with Arod at the helm.

Back in the days, there were these conspiracies going on in here about how everything in sports leagues including referees. I asked for clear statements from those involved in the conspiracies. Facts like emails, phone calls, fax and anything else to prove their conspiracies. No one could. All that was ever presented was conclusions based on opinions and personal observations. One in particular would always do this and others would agree. All I was asking for is proof. Never got it.

I knew that no one would spend the hours it would take to get close to it. And, you know this about me that I’m not going to sift through all the posts to find posts of predictions and comments about their attacks on ARod making the team be 3-9 or 4-8.

As to why we ended up 10-2, lots of opinions and a lot of “if this happened” we would have been 3-9 or 4-8. So, if we can go back and change the outcome to fire coaches, then we should be allowed to go back and change the outcome and praise coaches for dialing up the plays that won the two games and say we’re should have been 12-0 and the greatest BYU team ever! There are occasions where there are upsets. But, most of the time, the better team wins the close ones.

So, will we be a better team and win all our games in the future with a new OC and/or AC? If, if, if…

so let me parse this out. you demand proof and will not believe anyone unless they give it, but you’re also unwilling to give it. this is the very definition of a hypocrite. I don’t want to believe this, but in your own words that is what you are saying you are. you want to know why you drive everyone nuts even when we provide facts you ignore them and only provide conjecture showing you aren’t willing to understand where people are coming from. and then you make statements like i quoted above discrediting yourself even more.

a forum is a place for people to come and state their opinions and because most of the time they are opinions based on observations and everyone gives everyone else a wide birth on this. when I ask for proof I genuinely want my perception challenged. its better to learn from your mistakes then keep doing them.

so I will ask again who were these players that each team got back that made so much of a difference?

sorry, but this line of logic doesn’t make any sense to me. can you clarify?

ok let me not make any if statements and prove this with facts from here 2024 Football - Overall Statistics - Big 12 Conference

our over all offense is the middle of the pack in the big12 #7, rushing we were #10 and passing #8. with defense we were #1 overall, rushing #6 and passing #2. this proves my if statement. our defense made it possible for our mid offense to win games. honestly I think if we had the #4 defense in the conference I think there is a question mark on if we would have made it to a bowl game.

now to be fair the offense was at the bottom of the conference last year #14 and that its a big jump to #7 in one year. so kudos to them and I hope they continue to get better and prove all us naysayers wrong, but one year doesn’t make a trend. to quote Ben Aflec in good will hunting Arod you’re suspect.

for those who want to watch the scene I am quoting

Ahhh…took to the last paragraph to show the real picture for this season. How could a complete inept ARod go from #14 to #7? Of course, the defense improved and the special teams were fantastic except for one game, Kansas. A doink on the head of a pooch punt from going to the Big12 championship game. And, #25 on the onside kick against ASU muff turning around against Houston and making something that never happens on an onside kick, scores a touchdown! How can people complain about ARod improving that much?

The other stuff is just courtroom jargon in which you are to be commended. But, still lose the case. Floyd does try to show facts. But it’s always mostly out of context. Something you round about say about me.

In any event, you will see that I said we would go 12-0 as a Cougar fan but I also said realistically we would be 10-2.

no complaining

no what I am saying… or rather what you said. I @grasshopper bring no facts. so hypocrite it is. you know what this means right?

When I do bring facts it’s set aside and ignored. So why go there. And, you said this is a forum to express opinion. So why are facts needed?

fair enough.

you were the one to say this and you were absolutely right and I should give your comments more weight moving foreword. I would never in a million years guessed we would have gone 10 and 2. that is a lot of egg on my face. but to defend myself from some of that egg. Arod didn’t give us any reason to think that we would be able to do this. we all hope for the best but there are some big question marks with the offense. I hope they fix them, but I will still stand by what I said.

One of the reasons we or at least I knew is that we were 5-7 with injured lines and players. We lost our starting QB which would have made a huge difference with several of the last 5 games we lost. But, the 4 games Retzlaff started last year gave him experience for this year. With a healthy line and a deeper line, I felt with elite receivers and RBs we could easily gain back the 5 losses. That’s with Arod because that part wouldn’t change as much. I think he did a better job this year anyways.

Easy for the offense to improve when the defense leads the world in interceptions. I’m not gonna go back and look at how many points we scored on short fields off turnovers, but it was a lot. This is an OBJECTIVE concept.

Christmas card from ARod to Jay Hill: “Jay, thank you for leading the world in interceptions and saving my bacon with all those short fields.”

Tenth in rushing, with our abject obsession with running the ball when our biggest strengths were our pass blocking and outside receivers? And here I thought part of coaching was adapting to maximize production from your best athletes…….

Ya, it’s easy to win world championships too when you have the top athletes as well. No coaching is needed, right? Phil Jackson used to get that all the time.

So what if the offense scored on more short fields than in the past. I would hope that would be the case every year. You wanted the defense to be bad so we had to go the length of the field every time? What we want is a “TEAM” to work as a complete unit! I want the defense and special teams to set up short fields as often as possible. I guess you don’t???

Hilarious

I’m glad the coaches and players don’t listen to your divisive language. That each part of the team cheer on and work in unison with each other. Tremendous complimentary work. Something you can’t understand.
