Interesting news for BYU football

That’s only if you consider the “full body of work” that focuses on the first 2/3 of the season and ignore our collapse. We look so bad offensively now that we don’t pass any “eye test,” and it’s a mercy not to make us play top teams. I don’t blame anyone for not considering us for the field of 12.

I’m not hyped about playing Colorado. I think the wheels would come off and our doors would be blown off if we play them.

So, you won’t accept facts as they presented. Interesting. No, they did not show how Baylor 8-4 would get into the round of 12. They presented facts about BYU and why they have a better claim than Colorado and the 3 loss teams of the SEC.

Facts? or someone opinion? I guess you cannot determine which it is, but I can!

You did not watch then. You did not see the several comparison facts of BYU versus some of the other potential schools? Yet, you are blabbing about as if you did. Nice…

It is possible we could get blown out by Colorado, but we have played close games all year and the two losses were very close and to hot teams. I think our defense gives us a chance to beat anybody in the Big 12.

You have to consider that if we play Colorado both teams will have had nearly a month off between games and a lot can change after a long layoff. Teams get injured guys back. Some guys opt out of the bowl game. Teams with a lot of momentum can lose it and teams that were slumping sometimes reboot. Anything could happen in a game between BYU and Colorado. I think ASU right now is better than Colorado and we nearly beat them in Tempe after not showing up in the first half. Nobody in the Big 12 is so scary that we should think they will just roll over BYU.

I think if we play them, and right now that is what the experts are predicting, it may be a matter of who is prepared and is interested.

I think that 52-0 win Colorado had over Ok St has a lot of people terrified of Colorado. The game before that they were beaten decisively by Kansas who was then routed by Baylor. Every week is a new week and a month from now nobody knows what will happen.

I think Deion Sanders is a great recruiter. I have no idea if he is a great coach. I also think he is a real good person who can be respected based on the fact he wants to bring a Christian culture to his team. People get distracted by his flamboyance and the fact he was one of the best DBs in NFL history and assume he is some kind of coaching genius. He is probably a good competent coach who can motivate his team but he is not Nick Saban at this point. I am more impressed with him as a person than as a coach if you look past the glitz and glitter.

On one level I am with you. I would rather play somebody else because when thy are on their game they have been very good. It looks like Colorado will go to the Alamo Bowl for sure and we will probably play them but I would rather BYU play Clemson in the Pop Tarts Bowl. A whole lot could change by this Sunday after the conference championship
games are over.

I also repeat that the committee is not going
to consider BYU or a 3 loss Colorado. There are too many 3 loss SEC teams who would be picked over either one. My last post was hypothetical based on a what if it was between BYU and Colorado for a playoff spot. Based on the body of work for the entire season BYU has as good a resume, or maybe better, than Colorado.

If BYU gets into the college football playoff I will buy you dinner Hopper.

If BYU doesn’t get into the college football playoff you will buy me dinner.

I know it isn’t much but maybe it will end this nonsense of BYU making the college football playoff. The late season collapse has doomed this team again. At this point lets just hope they don’t do it again next season.

Not taking that bet anytime soon!

I liked Neon Deion as a player and still like him now. I always thought he was a solid guy and the flash was just for the cash. I’m happy to see him succeeding at Colorado.

Wow! We agree on something. He’s aways helped the less fortunate.

We shouldn’t even be debating whether BYU gets into the playoff. It’s not happening. That ship sailed when we choked not one but two weeks in a row when all we had to do was win one of two games.

And frankly it’s embarrassing to hear any BYU fan arguing that BYU “deserves” to be in the playoff because Bama or Miami or anyone else doesn’t “deserve” it, when we had a chance to end the debate on the field and choked.

Well, now stop and logically think it out. If you have several teams in the same boat, why not argue for your team?

Our big loss is Jackson Bowers, we are very lean at Tigh End

And that is why Tom wants ARod GONE. I was defending him all season long and when we were 9-0, there was no firing him, but these last 3 games just killed me.

Arod lost games on 3 and outs in tight games and Retzlaff’s terrible turnovers at critical times in tight games. I personally would of used TEs a whole lot more! A blocking TE that releases for a pass can extend 3rd downs and get those short yardage TDs. The same can be said about a RB in short yardage conditions…block and leak out in the flat for a pass…all highly used against BYU but non existent under ARod’s coaching

Seems like we did okay defensively against redzone attacks. Even inside the 5 too. I would have liked to seen more use of TE too. And a lot less lob passes to the corner of the endzone.

Are you actually questioning the play calling of the BYU OC? BYU would be playing for a Big 12 title and possible spot in the first ever 12 team National Championship playoff. How cool would that have been? They would have talked about the 1984 team from 40 years ago, etc. I wouldn’t have cared what happened, just making it would have been great.

But no, late season collapse once again and BYU is on the outside looking in, just like last season when they threw away bowl eligibility at the end of the season. So unnecessary but so predictable.

It’s not just like last season. We won our last game this year and are 10-2 headed to a bowl game or if with a little help to the National Championship tournament

Hey! The Bears head coach is available! Hire him for the OC job!

Not exactly but very similar. Both teams had something to play for, had a chance to accomplish something and had the opportunity to be a part of something after the season was over.

No bowl game last season and no college football playoff this season. Both were well within reach and both times the football team failed to make it. Yeah, they get a bowl game this season but the chance to play in the college football playoff was well within reach and they blew it.

Just admit it and move on.

I understand what you are attempting. However, there’s a huge difference between going for a somewhere bowl game against Wyoming with an 5-7 record and the 12 team national championship tournament with a record 10-2. What a great change by the coaches and players. We just had our best National signing day ever. How many years did it take Utah to get to this position when they moved to the PAC10?

No legal brain here it’s just something I read. But that Giselle thing completely true
