In fact, if BYU were an investment, it would be the stock of the year. A penny-ante operation producing one of the best returns in college football. It’s no small feat to squeeze out 10 wins when you’re not rolling in cash, and BYU’s 10-win season was an absolute masterclass in program monetary efficiency.

This will be the last time BYU does football on the cheap. With a new general manager coming onboard to help manage NIL money and a full share of Big 12 revenue sharing, things will evolve in months to come.

I do have a question about Revenue sharing in the BIG12.
How does the Bowl money work with the Revenue sharing program of the BIG12? Hope you can understand what I am talking about.

Based on what they did this past season it looks like they all moved down the depth chart. It seems like Harper has been around forever. I am surprised he still has eligibility left.

If Epps plays the same position as Marion and Kingston it is no big loss. He seems injury prone to me.I wonder what happened with Bowers? I figured he would play a lot this season.

I did a quick calculation on how ARod utilized his three groups (RB, WR, TE) for this season:
This what I found:
TE 28 Receptions, 248 Total yards
WR 147 Receptions, 2299 Total yards
RB 27 Receptions, 236 Total yards

Tight Ends thrown too: Keanu Hill (12), Mata’ava Ta’ase (8), Ryner Swanson (8).

RB thrown too: Hinckley Ropati (5), Miles Davis (5), LJ Martin (8), Enoch Nawahine (1), Sione Moa (4), Pokaiaua Haunga (4).

WR thrown too: Chase Roberts (51), Darius Lassiter (43), Keelan Marion (23), JoJo Phillips (10), Parker Kingston (12), Kodi Epps (8).

Interesting…

Just because they enter the portal doesn’t mean they will leave altogether. They may just be testing the money waters. It won’t hurt the bowl game or if we manage to get into the 12 team playoff.

ARod doesn’t throw to tight ends. Good for Bowers. I’m sorry he wasted eligibility at BYU. I can’t understand why ANY top high school QB or TE would come to BYU

Well, it’s a big name school now for starters. I bet next year, with one more year of experience in the Big12, we see more variation in the offense using TE. Also, with Retzlaff being a running QB, we may see more recruits coming that can do both throw and pass. How’s the bottom of the glass tasting these days? 10 and 2!

You actually said this 5 hours ago?

What 12 team playoff are you talking about? If it is the national championship playoff you have got to be kidding. How in the world do you think BYU is even given a first look, let alone a second? There is no chance in the world BYU is going to the 12 team playoff. Mind boggling anyone would think that.

Someone needs to remind you and hold you accountable for the things you post here. So much of it is absolute nonsense!

Both thoughts are compatible. There’s always hope even it doesn’t seem possible. Maybe the committee will get some morals.

sure there is hope. I wake up every morning hoping there will be a million dollars in my bed. I have better odds of this happening then BYU getting into the playoffs. tell me your scenario that would make this a reality?

You may want to listen to yesterday’s BYUSN and the Matich section as he lays out his thoughts on the subject. Pretty much what I have as far as things like wins against ranked teams and teams we play and did win. That the committee would use their brains.

I have heard this from a lot of people. Here is what they miss Coach Prime. the best the big12 can do is get 3 in and that’s so far out there that it’s laughable to think about. if the stars did align and we were able to get 3 in we would still be out. we aren’t going to beat out the two teams in the Championship game and then they have to choose between us and Prime. they are going to choose Prime all day long and twice on Sunday. also if you think the commissioner is going to advocate for us over Prime your a fool. the only way we were going to get in was by going to the championship game.

I know some people think that our commissioner is going to sway them to not put in 4 teams from the big10 and the SEC, but 8 of the top 12 teams are from those confrences. only 4 spots left. Boise and ND are in so that only leaves two, giving us one and the ACC one. this is the most likely scenario.

another thing to think about is that the select committee said that they aren’t going to put much weight towards the championship games other then what the rules already state. if we put that into the equation then who we see from the big10 and sec in the top 12 are already in. this still leaves 4spots. ND isn’t playing another game so they in. if Boise loses then we may get another spot but that is doubtful based on what the committee said about these game.

You are again not realizing the possibility that the committee starts looking at strength of schedule and who did teams beat. Will they look at that? Matich isn’t sure either. There are other things as well. Colorado does not have the National and international money background that BYU even with Deon. If we get two or three teams in, the loser of the Big12 championship game will have at least 3 losses over the season. We have only 2 losses. Like you said, the committee isn’t taking much consideration with the league championship games.

so ifs are ok for you but not for me. consistency isn’t your strong suite is it.

tell me how they take us over who played in the championship

3 losses versus 2 losses. Again, listen to Matich. Also, today on BYUSN they broke facts down on this very question. Check it out.

I don’t think coach prime means anything as far as getting in the playoff. Colorado has 3 losses. They are out. Nobody with 3 losses except maybe Alabama, or maybe another 3 loss SEC team is getting in.

Of course BYU and Colorado are out. Between BYU and Colorado it would be a tough call unless the committee looks at flash over actual resume. Looking at what the 2 teams did on the field it is close. Both barely beat Baylor. Colorado’s win over Baylor required a hail mary to reach OT and then Baylor fumbling away a TD to end OT. That game was in Colorado. We beat Baylor in Waco. We beat KSU by a lot at home. KSU beat Colorado and I think it was in Boulder. Colorado blew out OSU and Utah and we barely beat both. By the time OSU played Colorado they had completely fallen apart and had nothing to play for. We beat Utah in SLC in a rivalry game. Colorado beat Utah in Boulder and Utah was beat up and demoralized.

There were 3 common opponents with similar outcomes. Those common opponents were Arizona, UCF, and Kansas. Colorado beat both Arizona and UCF by a little more than BYU did but BYU beat both easily. Another common opponent was Kansas. Kansas easily beat Colorado at home and was very lucky to beat BYU in Provo.

We beat a top 10 team in non conference. Colorado got rolled by a very average Nebraska team. So who has the better resume?

It is all really moot because neither is getting in the playoff. I don’t think the charisma of Coach Prime gives Colorado a better resume than BYU. Looking at the entire body of work over the course of the entire season it is close.

so the 3rd loss isn’t going to affect either team if they lose. also don’t try to sell me that turd sandwich that somehow we got a leg up on Prime.

Check out BYUSN today. They break down things into 12 categories. Very eye opening. BYU should be on the bubble.

agreed there is no chance BYU or Colorado get in. but for the very reason that you think a 3 loss sec team and AL will get in is the same reason I think Prime would pull them over the edge of BYU. though I do agree that our wins, strength of schedule should pull us over, but after years of watching how the other committees have operated. I am jaded and can’t believe they will ever use logic to decide who gets in over name recognition.

They also broke down how Baylor could end up in the Championship, Neither BYUSN nor Matich has any more information than we do with the CFC will decide, they are just guessing like the rest of us.
