Is Sataki being used as a scape goat?

Won’t work in this case.

Ron, I sincerely salute your passion for wanting excellent BYU football. And I appreciate your trying to think outside the box. I share that same passion.

However, if the athletic dept. hired an LDS man for a lot less pay to babysit (for BYU moral concerns, i.e. memory of Crowton debacle) a very highly paid non-member, there would be epic bitching and moaning that would reach to Alpha Centuri. There would be big time and smaller time doner defections from BYU by the scores. There would be many members who don’t care about football would pitch massive fits through their bishops, stake presidents and up to the twelve and first presidency. Just think of the history of the church prior to coming to Utah and even a bit recently.

Besides, if Sitake can get the team to beat Tenn., USC and BSU there is no reason he or his similarly paid replacement cannot achieve outstandingly significant winning seasons.

Look at Lavell Edward during 1980’s, he had Mike Holgrem as an example. Lavell oversee (not baby sitting) the whole FB program and allow his coaches do there job. Lavell was a great counselor with his players for many years. Mike Holgrem, Norm Chow and several other OC did all the play calling and same way with DC side.
Coach Sitake and Mendahall can handle defense for a long time. Why not have a 2nd head coach handling as a primary HC and not dealing with honor coade, academic, etc which belong to LDS HC.
I like to see it happen - Two Head Coach. But, I am not holding my breath which will never happen (but I could be wrong).

I didn’t think this 2 head coach idea would catch on. Let’s see, how many football teams in the nation … college, HS, MS or Pro … even in the CFL have done this?? I don’t know of a single instance of it ever happening. Probably a good reason for it never happening is my guess. How about a head coach who actually hires good coordinators and then holds them accountable? The coordinators don’t have to be LDS.

Agreed. Sitaki just has to hold players accountable to know their positions and study the playbook a whole lot more.

The person you are describing cannot be a co-head coach. There has to be one person where the buck stops.

Sorry grasshopper, I do not have any idea at all regarding what you are saying.

I am quite certain that you know the answers to the rhetorical questions which you ask, but I have no idea, the context for which you ask.

How much of all the money in the world would you be willing to pay them?

You can buy anything in this world for money.

Hopefully not anything or differently said: everything.

We all know they won’t come for less at BYU. It is ridiculous they are making some 8M a year which make no sense. Sure Bama fans think so and same to all top universities think the same way. I’ll stick what I believe how BYU should pay whoever might come to the Y.
What if Kyle Whittinghame or Andy Reid choose to retire near future and volunteer to coach at BYU and take a big cut or just volunteer to coach. Would one of them come? Yeah, I don’t think one of them would do it.

Well, Trump gave up his career and has lost a bunch of money for being President for free. So, it could happen :stuck_out_tongue:

Yeah Mitt Romney would do that too if he was president

The question is did he really want to be President? He purposely punted questions Obama and the press put to him showing is poor ability to make decisions. He won the first debate but threw up after that. I don’t think he wanted to give up his wealth.
Now, it seems like Mitt wants socialism as he is siding with the Democrats for the purpose of keeping his wealth as an elite while the socialist take over.

Dew,

I totally agree with you.
Kyle was offered the job Kalani got. Kyle knew his self worth as a coach, and after playing football for BYU, he chose to coach for Utah where the pay was much, much greater,

Klye was able to take Utah out of the G5 conference and put Utah into a P5 cnference, making the Utah University much richer with TV contracts and all that goes with it,

We refused to pay what Kyle was worth so we hired some one for much less money that keeps us in the TV Contract range paying less than half of what the U of U makes.

Call Andy Reed, or the Navy coach or any other successful coach and they will not come to BYU for the pay that we offer.

By paying less than the going pay, we get (On the job training) coaches that will work for less and provide us with less in terns of TV Contracts and all other monetary set backs.

Most any graduate with a MBA degree, will tell you that it is not wise to be penny wise and pound foolish when hiring coaches.

How long will it be before Grimes leaves us for more pay somewhere else? BRONCO left us for more than double pay with half of the head aches that goes with coching at the Y.

God bless Kalani, Grimes and all the other coaches that almost donate their time to do their very best for us, and sometimes, (not consistently), but sometimes, they even work miracles for us.
(Tenn/USC/Boisey St./Utah St. etc).

dew,

 "Why not have a 2nd head coach handling as a primary HC and not dealing with honor code, academic, etc "

While many will disagree with this idea, we currently have an assistant Head Coach at BYU.

So maybe we can call the LDS member the HC and the highly successful P5 coach to be the Assistant HC.

I like your idea,

Thawk,

We currently have a HC and also, an asst. HC.
It seens to be working fine.

Ron

Is this deliberately meant to be disrespectful to women, or is this just normal thinking and talking for you?

No! Dumb Idea. Do you think Saban, Meyers, Reid or anyone else would take the Assistant Head Coaching job because they aren’t LDS Temple Recomend Holders? Dumb idea  I say that lovingly

I said it and liberal jab all you want. Whatever you want that sentence to mean, go for it.
