BYU football: Breaking down the Cougars’ Week 1 depth chart – Deseret News

As a point of interest:
Look at how many “Or” there are offense vs defense… :open_mouth:

Locked on cougars youtube channel said today that his inside sources said Retzlaff will be the starting QB.

I will say that I am concerned there’s a lot of “or” on the list, and the lack of depth on the Oline.

Looks good to me. The “or” simply means there’s still competition going on for them1st or 2nd string. Not a negative at all!

Not a negative. “Or” means lots of competition still going on.

Yeah…

Nothing negative about not knowing who will be starting and playing in the football game in five days… are you kidding? This is just more unknown… not knowing who the starting unit is, not knowing who the QB is, not knowing what the game plan will be, not knowing what plays will be called in that game, on and on it goes… leading to the biggest unknown which is whether BYU can beat a FCS team on its’ home field.

Makes the fans feel real confident.

Is this a case of the 5 P’s at work?

“Proper Preparation Prevents Poor Performance”

Who cares about the armchair QBs and coaches. The real coaches know who’s in and who’s out. Relax and enjoy the journey…

I just noticed that on Defense, the majority of “Or” were on who was second string, while on Offense, the “Or” was on the first string.

I don’t worry much about the WR’s position because they rotate so much anyways. The good thing is that the Offensive line is pretty much set, except for RG.

Not sure if you saw my post about SN interview with Hans Olsen, but you watch the Season Preview show Hans talks about how improved the O-line seems to him. I know Hans works for BYU radio, but he has never been shy on his radio show to call out the coaches and players for not doing their best.

And “No”, he is not an armchair QB as someone posted, but he actually played the game on the highest level (NFL) and he is/was a coach on a high school team.

Hans says there are going to be some surprise players on the defense that you would not think would be that good (due to being lower classman).

He also says that he thinks Bohanan gives us the better chance of winning games, for the mere fact he has more experience (and wins) than Retzlaff. Other talking heads says that Retzlaff has the inside track for starting (who really knows?).

Personally, without any inside knowledge, just a gut feeling I have is that ARod is afraid of picking the wrong QB, he knows his job is on the line, and he has caused Kalani’s to be on the hotseat as well. Now this I will admit is being an armchair QB! :open_mouth:

But after the last few years, I have learned to be cautious optimistic with a bit of pessimism thrown in, but never put much stock in what the coaches say about being “ready”.

Looks like they made a decision on the QB, but not telling anyone…
Why BYU isn’t announcing starting QB until Saturday’s kickoff – Deseret News

Ask Twerk. He has a big mouth and big ears for these kinds of things.

Whose Twerk?

And weren’t you the one recently talking about evils of name calling?

Why don’t you show us by example, what a good person should do?

I’ve never said anything about name calling. Heck, you guys do it all the time to me. Now you are complaining! LOL! Oh, did I miss-type? Thawk. Twerk sounds better…Maybe twerp :upside_down_face:

Just curious, does anyone know what happen to the McKenzie twins?

I know Marcus was the Special Team player last year and did well until his injury, and his brother just got back from a mission.

Any information?

they came out of HS with serious speed, went on missions, working on the rust but they will be a part of this year’s Dfense. A whole lotta upside

But they are not on the depth chart, that is why I was wondering.

A whole lotta rust but a whole lotta upside
