Does anybody know if Koslowski is redshirting? He was a 4 star recruit but hasn’t appeared in a game in about 2 months and hasn’t played in garbage time in the last few blowout wins.
I heard on a podcast that he was seen on the bench with a brace on his wrist. They assumed he was redshirting.
And status of Catchings?
Maybe for conf tournament?
Koz is redshirting
Catchings jarred his knee when he landed awkward, was it the Az game?. He could play if needed.
Yep, Catchings is going to the NBA next year and they don’t want a lawsuit.
Who in the NBA is going to want him right now? His potential is off the charts but he is not NBA ready yet.
He has some great games on offense at times but has been uneven and his defense is suspect at this point. Right now he is a depth player and depth players generally aren’t one and done guys.
Are you suggesting he will sue the school if he is played too soon after the injury and when you say going to the NBA next year do you mean after next season is over?
When his shot is dropping he needs minutes and the ball. When he doesn’t produce on offense his minutes get cut.
He’s still on the NBA draft lists in the 2nd round. So yes, make him play when his knee isn’t ready and he really blows it out, lawsuit. We don’t live in 1978 anymore when Danny Ainge sprained his knee and played in the game with San Diego State game winning the game with 2 free throws with no time on the clock. Welcome to 2025.
I don’t think anybody is suggesting he should play hurt. I was questioning whether he is a top NBA prospect right now. I don’t think he is and when Young thinks he is ready to play he will play. Right now BYU can still go ten deep without him, and being a depth player they can win without him. So no reason to rush him back in. Next year he could be first round material, but right now he is not. With the kind of NIL money these guys get now there is no reason for them to jump into the draft prematurely.
Even today guys play hurt all the time. QBs play hurt in football with greater risk than basketball. Retzlaff played hurt in a few games. The more valuable the player the more likely they will play hurt particularly if there is a lack of depth at their position.
BYU has a ton of depth on the basketball team so they can afford to sit Catchings right now. There are probably about 6 guys on the team now more valuable than he is. No knock on him. In terms of NBA upside he is 2nd only to Demin on the BYU team, but in terms of value to BYU right now. I would argue he is no better than 7 or 8. Not as valuable as any starter except Knell and less valuable than Hall and Traore among the backups, and about equal to Baker and Stewart, and maybe Boskovic.
He’s still on the lists for the second day pick. I think he definitely needs another year or two. Demin would benefit as well for many reasons at his young age staying at BYU another year. Saunders and Hall as well. What a team that would be if Keba plays another year along with Baker. Staton and AJ coming in. If they could jell early on as a team, it could be a special year.
agree with all you pointed out. Catchings needs to play if he can but BYU turned the corner bigtime when Mag started. He always guards the best player on the other team. His 3 is very dependable and he has 5 years experience to Catching’s 1/2.
Demin needs to be drafted high this year. That is how you keep the blue chip factory going. AJ needs to come and have a Cooper Flagg type season and every media outlet talking about BYU.
We also have a 1-2 punch with Demin/Hall at the point. Baker has come in and run the offense at times and he is a baller. So to sum it up, Every single transfer or recruit that KY brought in has paid major dividends and everyone who plays with the exception of Knell and Catchings are better defenders. Knell and Catchings, when hitting 3s, can put a team in the deep fry.
Love where BYU is at, not just this season but next
ISU in the quarter finals is no easy task. They are very good and want revenge. I will take a 4 or 5 or 6 seed. Those tend to be games in the 1st round with a lesser conference champ. Last year, Duquesne had 2 outstanding guards that destroyed BYU. We are way better at guard this year with Mag and Demin, 6’7 and 6’9. I think last year we started Hall 6’2 and 6’5 Johnson. Robinson, Knell, Waterman and Saunders were our guards. Johnson was our best defensive stopper along with Saunders. So BYU is WAY better suited for D for this group.
Inside we have Keba (who I would not trade from anybody on D right now) and Foos. Last year our center was either Foos or Atiki or Khalifa. Again BYU is WAY better on D this year.
PS, Demin will be drafted, Catchings comes back a year. The million $ question is will Richie be back
Time will tell. We always put our input into others when not knowing their feelings about things. There are more important things than the NBA for Demin. Freedom is probably what he most admires. And his love for being where he is. Maybe he wants to grow up first. Why anyone would push someone into the NBA mess is thought provoking.
Whether Saunders stays will depend upon if he’s making good money at BYU right now. He also loves being at BYU. Can he improve to where he also could be a draft pick? I think so.
Catchings is just very young and also loves being where he’s at. Not everyone is a “Stewart.” But Catchings may be for another year. Hopefully Baker stays put as well. Keba too! He would be great for Staton to learn defense and how to jump higher.
That was pretty funny actually. This is what you wrote: Catchings-
I think he definitely needs another year or two. Demin would benefit as well for many reasons at his young age staying at BYU another year. Saunders and Hall as well.
Saunders draft stock is as high as it will ever get, Big 12 1st team and the go-to guy on our team. Next year, he will not be the go-to guy. and there’s always that thing called “you’re only one injury away.”
the latest on Catchings is as I said, “Day to Day”. This article covers everything about Catchings, this year’s run and other great questions to Robby McCombs, who by the way is my favorite

Robby did not think Richie Saunders would leave for the NBA. He also suggested that Demin might stay another year. I don’t agree on either.
I completely agree about Richie. I don’t know how he could have a better year next year. With his style of play he might be prone to injury. His stock is at a maximum. He should seriously look at the NBA
Well, I agree on both for the reasons mentioned before. The love where they are at right now and understand they can’t come back to their youth. If they can be paid enough to stay now, why not? Detmer saw it the same way. He could have gone after his Junior year. Life isn’t all about money. Can’t by happiness
totally agree. And I would be opening the check book for Saunders
