KY KSL interview

interesting tidbits and some things not said.

He did say they have some things, referrring to incoming players, that are in the works but that are not ready to be announced.

He did comment that they are still looking for PG talent. Correction: he said ball handling talent which I translated as PG.
He did say extensively that he was off-base on his understanding of defence in NCAA bball, so reworking the defence talent-wise and scheme-wise, my words not his, are uppermost on his mind.

Glaringly to me, he did not mention looking for bigs. Not being a major part of the conversation it left me wondering if he is satisfied with where they are? Seems to me his best NBA teams had solid big play though he did go without regularly. I don’t watch NBA but I have read articles in the past number of years how there is a dearth of talented bigs, or that the modern offense de-emphasizes such.
So does he have announcement(s) coming about bigs? Is he satisfied with Keita, Staton, and possibly Bosco to be sufficient for the year and run through the Big 12, where I thinks bigs matter, and for a dance run where bigs sometimes matter even though it has famously been a guard tournament the last few years…

Interestingly he also said he was in communication with Elijah Crawford including recently, I suspect about the landing location announcement, though it sounded like a bit more on the regular than that. A year away from the Marriott Center with lots of playing time could be his ticket to a bigger ticket assuming he plays as well as I think he will against MVC talent.

The biggest news is Saunders is staying. We are very deep again. The kid from France can play the point. For that matter, AJ can also play the point much like LeBron has been doing so for 22 years. I’m really not worried about the point. If Crawford sticks around, great. But, I’d like to see one more big that can shoot and score now. I have a feeling Staton is being way overlooked. Be prepared for him to score 8-15 points a game. Keba is most likely working on his shooting as well. Especially from the foul line.

KY is looking for a big. As well as a shooting guard
