Miss Valley St, cashing checks

Miss Valley is near the bottom of D1 bball. They have been losing games so badly, they are almost doubled in 5 games, They did play K St 74-56 on 8-19 three point shooting.

What I look for in this game is the same as our other blowouts…
who are our starters
how are they meshing together
who are the subs, what combos work best

1 BYU should double MVSt
2 Double their rebounds
3 double their block
4 half of the turnovers
5 Sisk and Tate are the high scorers for MVSt

Starting 5
Hall
Egor
Saunders
Foos
Catchings

1st guys in
Knell
Boskovic
Baker

BYU hits 100

Any news on the severity of Keba’s ankle sprain? Will Crawford do some playing as well?

I would like a good look at Crawford in this game. Not sure Knell needs to play that much. Would like to see Catchings play a lot with Hall if he’s good to go. It’s a good game to get ready for a tough 3 game stretch. I would like to know how some of these players like Crawford have looked in practice. Sometimes practices are a good insight to potential and it would be nice to know how some of the not so obvious kids look. Thanks

I have only been to one practice this year. Hall was out. Crawford looked great, especially on D. He’s a super elite athlete. He’s little but can get way, WAY above the rim and is super quick.

Oh, and Catchings was awesome shooting the ball when they scrimmaged full speed. Ditto Baker.

I think Catchings just needs some time to get confident. Once he knows he can play at a high level with anyone and do it in a game he will be fine. He looks a little unsure sometimes but that will change with time on the floor.

Thanks, confirms I thought he was a really good talent

His shooting in practice was incredible. Effortless. He can get his shot over anyone, any time. I agree with you that he has looked unsure of himself at times. When he plays in games with the mentality I saw—frankly the joy playing with his buddies—he will light it up. I’m not sure the “one and done” talk has been good for him. Tremendous talent.

Basketball talent is really fun to see. I watched Cooper Flagg last night as Duke played Arizona. Flagg had 24 points and played well as Duke defeated Arizona on the road. Ok just a limited observation, with only one game to judge from, Demin looks every bit as good as Flagg does, if not a bit faster. Of course they are both one and done, which is sad, in a way, as neither will probably start in the NBA for a couple of years.

I saw Cooper Flagg literally lose a game on his own vs. Kentucky. He got rattled at the end and dribbled out of bounds one time and then had the ball stolen from him the next time down and Duke lost even though they had a lead late. He was good up to the point when it mattered. I think it is just freshman nerves and lack of experience because he is a really good player. I kind of put that on the coach. Duke has other players that could have helped but they were kind of standing there waiting for the Flagg, and it came unfurled and blew away in the wind.

No doubt he is already good, but like you said a freshman

Cooper Flagg is generational, he reminds me of Bird. Has all the shots.

Catchings just dribbled through 2 guys, got hit by a 3rd and basket. He has the talent, now just needs minutes and muscle. Catchings wants a 25 point night, he looks well on his way.

Now we get to see Hall and Demin play together for the 1st time

well on our way to 100, double the rebs, steals blocks

Next couple of games is going to tell us a lot about this team. Keba was there and didn’t appear to be too bad. They will need him. BYU played a lot of different combinations, so it wasn’t very revealing. Baker is coming around and Catchings looked better. Demin is so unselfish, as he could probably score +20 every game. Not going to talk about the football game-defense couldn’t stop the run, ridiculous go on 4th and 5, and onside kick-last 2 games depressing

Haha, you just did.

Yeh I’m self-destructing just like BYU🤷
