This pick is easy for me. It’s Isaiah Glasker. My favorite player. He is a fun watch. Has all the skills.
Did you know…
Against ASU he had 7 solo tackles, 5 assisted, 2 TFL? Impressive.
Did you know…
He is a red-shirt soph? If next year is anything like this year, he’ll go NFL after junior year.
Did you know…
He served a mission to Uruguay?
I didn’t know these - so made even more of an impression.
He may go this year. He was interviewed on BYUSN today and the way he talked you would think he was talking as if he were a senior.
Maybe they could try him at QB or hire him as the OC…
Good one! Jay Hill for President and Glasker for on field OC playing QB!
My prediction is that Arizona State will beat Arizona and KSU will beat Iowa.
I like it! I’ll go with that!
I think UA might hold them for a half but will get overwhelmed
Michigan 1st and goal on 3 yard line with 9 minutes left in 10-10 game.
Retzlaff, I mean UM QB throws INT right to defender having a wide open receiver behind in end zone. Right to him! De je vu all over again
Our most important returning player is Jay Hill. Playing the position of “putting a quality D on the field in an attempt to save the offense from itself and make BYU a perennial top 25 team.”
To your note:
Glasker, Kelly, Taggart all back next year. In fact, We have 12 LB on the roster; the only one graduating is Bryant-Strother, who doesn’t even play. This the Jay Hill effect. We have already seen a big upgrade in defensive recruiting this year and it will continue due to The Jay Hill Effect.
Great! Now, turn your head to the offense. Who is coming back? Most of the starters I believe. I’m sure some recruits and transfers will fill in nicely. How about special teams? ARod will have one more year of experience as head OC.
Just curious, how much experience do you think ARod as a HEAD OC?
2003-04 OC for Southern Utah
2010 - OC for Utah
2015-16 OC for Utah
2021-2024 OC for BYU
From my calculations that is SEVEN YEARS of being a HEAD OC.
Not sure why you think another year is going to make him better.
Getting close to being perfect for the job.
And you’re getting close to making a logical, rational post. This one sent you in the wrong direction so you have to turn it around and get going in the right direction. With about 7 years experience you’re almost there. See, makes about as much sense as claiming he’s close to being perfect for the job.
You haven’t been seriously in the coaching arena and the number of years it takes to learn enough.
If perfect means perfectly mediocre.
Arod is a perfect example of the Law of Diminishing Returns. If he can improve, it will be marginal, really insignificant. As Floyd points out, he’s been OC (and mediocre) for a very long time. Got to stop “wishing upon a star” in la la land. He won’t change.
Here’s my theory on Retzlaff. He has three phases of pressure.
- Normal game pressure. Like starting games, middle of game. He’s OK . Can light it up or throw the worst passes, like 10 feet away from receiver or throwing low and behind or spot on . C+ to B-
- Urgency phase. Increased pressure, he get’s focused. Really often does quite well. Short drives in some games after TO are good examples. B to B+
- Panic phase. High pressure, game on the line. He loses his mind often and gets the yips. Unexplainable throws and decisions. He has made some good plays, but more often throws to the other team, fumbles. He has cost us two games and put at a risk of loss in a few others
D+ to C-.
Overall, he’s a C+ QB. We have to get better QB play than that.
Now, if Iowa state wins, no pressure and Retzlaff will have his best game as a Cougar by far.
If somehow KSU wins, he’ll have 2 tutnovers, but 3 TDs because… well, it’s Houston afterall.
Defense: Glasker
Offense: Chase Roberts.
People forget Roberts is only a junior.
ARod should be fired for how he has misused Chase Roberts. Roberts is one of our best receivers at BYU since Collie. Last night Roberts got ZERO targets in the second half. ZERO. ARod is so busy designing cute reverses and fly sweeps that he TOTALY IGNORES the best player on his offense. Can ANY OC be that blind to the obvious?
One of our best receivers in 20 years finishes with 51 catches? That is criminal. That alone should get ARod fired, but it won’t happen because he and Kalani have been buddies for 25 years.
Let’s also remember that even PUKA NACUA had 48 and 43 catches his two years at BYU. WHAT IS AROD THINKING? Does he have NO IDEA when he has a truly special talent? These are serious questions.
Roberts should have had 90 catches this year with people talking about him being one of the all time greats.
Blah, blah blah, blah blah… ask Robert’s or Puka what they think about your arrogant rant. Because that’s what it is. No praise or thanks for a 10-2 season when you predicted a 3-9 season.
Will have to do that, since I have known his family for decades.
I am not sure I ever saw a post that Tom said BYU would go 3-9. Want to back it up with facts?
So, I’m going to believe hearsay reports from you? The exaggerator in charge? You go back and see all the naysayers and their predictions. I remember.
So you are a liar then that refuses to back up what you posts?
Hear that Guys? Hopper will twist and turn (what I would refer to as a lie) to prove a point.
