This could easily be BYU’s first 6-6 season in over a decade. I think that it will be a 9-3 season for BYU with upset wins over Utah, Boise State, and Michigan State.

I see two real new rivals starting to develop.
No not Utah. No not Utah State.

I see on one level, perhaps our level, Boise State as developing into our big annual rival and I believe that it is this game that should be the last season game programed for each season.

On a different level, (I say different because of the requirements of the PAC 12), THE UCLA game should be a every year event and played as the first game of each season.

Yes, we can hang tough vs. UCLA. Yes we beat them the last time we played at Provo 59-0.

Yes we beat UCLA in a bowl game. Yes, while we lost by a point, we dominated the whole game except for the last 3 minutes at the home field in Pasadena Rose Bowl.

So yes, each year, lets start with UCLA and end with Boise State. Please no more FCS games scheduled. Please, please, please. There are plenty of P5 teams at the bottom of each conference that we can beat, unstead of playing FCA teams. Think of the building years for the seller dwellers of the P5 conferences and pick and choose from teams like:

Pac 12 Colorado, Washington State, Oregon State, Arizona, Arizona State on their rebuilding
years. (Plan ahead for those rebuilding years).

Big 12 Kansas, Iowa State

ACC WAKE FOREST, Vs., Duke

Big 10 Indiana, Purdue, Rutgers, Ohio, North Western

SEC Vanerbuilt, Miss St.

If we schedule like, play like, act like a P5 conference team, like Notre Dame, we will be treated with the respect of a P5 conference team, like Independent Notre Dame.

If we want respect, we can’t get it my talking or legislating it. We must earn it in our scheduling and winning on the field without scheduling Patsies in order to win.

Continued with a new Athlon Poll. Not a reply, but a continuation with recommendations:

BYU is ranked at #46.
There are 19 P5 teams ranked below us starting with Texas at #47. The lowest P5 team ranked below os is Kansas at #111.

We only need 12 of these 19 teams on a schedule to fill our season with all P5 teams and all of them will be ranked below us.

No need for FCS teams. No need for even G5 teams. We can do it playing all P5 teams. We can get into a P4 playoff. Think of the possibilities. (Remember everyone said we could not ever get Tye Detmer to leave his ranch where he can hunt and fish everyday on his own property,)

Even at a ranking of 47 we can find 21 teams that are ranked below us that are P5 Conference teams. We have a better chance than not, at having a 12-0 season and get into a P4 play off. We will have done this playing 1w2 P5 conference teams.
The higher the SOS the more likely we are that we would be cosen to plan in a P4 play off system. That would incliude playing Texas, Cal, Kansas St, Ga. Tech. NC State.Dule. Minn., Missouri, S.Carolina, Colorado, Va.,and Maryland.

In case we run into difficulty getting all the teams we want on the above list, there are still 9 other P5 teams t0 choose from… No needto play FCS teams. No needto play G5 teams. We are ranked higher than any of the 21 P5 teams on our list to choose from.
