"Clearly there was never an intention to show disrespect to any religious group,” spokesperson Anne Descamps told reporters, according to the Associated Press.
We certainly live in a time where you can do or say anything you want to and then backtrack on it with lies and completely absurd comments.
So if there was CLEARLY no intention to show disrespect, what exactly was the intention?
Likewise, the difference between tolerance and acceptance does not exist anymore. It used to be okay to tolerate without accepting… not anymore. This kind of attitude and behavior is rampant in today’s society.
I read a comment from Jillian Micahel’s (who is a famous fitness trainer, if you didn’t know) who is also gay.
Her comments were in line with what you posted, she said “This type of hypocrisy and lack of understanding is a bad look. We get outraged when the extreme right bashes us, but then we do this s—. What kind of reaction do you think they will have towards the LGBTQ+ community after this. This is NOT how we break down barriers, it’s how you build them.”
Thought it was interesting that someone in their own community was upset with what they did.
But for that reason, I will not watch the Olympics this year. I can support an organization that makes fun of think that a billion people hold sacred. The IOC should have come out loud and clear that this was not acceptable.
Guess you should be looking for another country to move to. Or do you support the Biden-Harris deep state Government? There are mostly great athletes not only for the U.S. but for many other countries. My attack would actually be on NBC for showing it. And, any other organization. Then, fine the members of the IOC for their bad taste.
wow, powerful.
Interesting story…in all the years I filmed and traveled, not once did I have problems except in France or should I say Paris. They kept one of our fishing group off a flight over a fly rod case, would not even unscrew the top and look in the case. Total jerks just to be jerks. They have AES…hahahaha American Envy Syndrome…
Call them Parians. The rest of the country outside of Paris is as you say, take away San Fran and LA, California is a pretty cool place to live…PS. I feel you pain about those big fires up north,
I haven’t watched parades in many a year, including the Olympics…I saw the headlines about the curfuffle and went looking. It appears to have been a Dionisian bachanalia attempted to being depicted…some scholars do think that early Christian rituals were influenced by the Dionisian cult worship activities. The last supper has been compared to a Dionisian celebration for several centuries so whoever chose to celebrate Dionisian religion just used the most famous of the depictions…What I haven’t been able to figure out is why anyone would think that a Dionisian celebration would be a good idea on the world’s largest stage…
French artist culture has always included more Greek and Roman religion than the more staid artists of the English/American tradition…a fact relatively well recognized…but not having an interest I have not really looked for the root of that tradition.
My father was saying that a long time before Steve Martin became famous…part of my childhood living outside of Paris engendered the sentiment.
If it weren’t for French laws largely written for and by Paris, I would certainly be spending a good part of my time in France every year…it has a great people, burdened by an elite that is often out of touch with more than just religion, (which I think is the root of their not understanding how offensive Dionisian festivities would play internationally), but out of touch with their the lived reality of their own people…
And how many Muslims have moved to Paris over the past 10 years? There is your answer. Anything to poke the eye of any other religion. Both England and France are headed towards the same reality as Israel faces today
