A QB from Vanderbilt played 2 years in a Junior College and is losing potential NIL money from an additional year he lost. So, he filed suit and the NCAA granted an extra year. So, Retzlaff could get another year. This year would be his sophomore year. WOW!
This is an oversimplification. As of now Retzlaff has no more eligibility than before this news. To change that he would have to sue the NCAA and win. The plaintiff in that lawsuit (Paivia)won only an injunction, meaning the NCAA has to let him—and him ONLY—play until his case goes to trial.
The flood gate has been opened. You can’t let one person do it and not everyone in the same boat. Equating JC ball with 4 year universities has ended. Retzlaff can have one more year making good money playing for BYU. Another freshman QB just hit the portal today. I bet it has to do with this.
