What’s he thinking? Giving up football?
He still plans to play this year somewhere. He would have to get a waiver to enter the portal so his easiest path is to enroll elsewhere as a walk on. If he does that missing the portal window won’t apply and he can play elsewhere. If he still has his NIL deal not having a scholarship wouldn’t be such a big deal. There is a full Dnews article on this.
He is probably talking to some schools who have a need at QB. If he stayed at BYU there is a good chance he wouldn’t play much this year after missing the first 7 games unless all the prospects BYU currently has weren’t playing well. He can’t sit out a year because he has used his redshirt year. Unless he moves on from BYU he wouldn’t be playing much this year.
I’m sure he’d like to stay in a P4 school but there’s no promise he’d start anywhere else either.
“That said, I’m excited to turn the page and embrace the next chapter. My journey is far from over — and I’m more motivated than ever to keep chasing my goals."
I don’t think it’s looking real good for his prospects going forward. He’s right on a couple points about turning the page and his journey being far from over. Exactly what journey he is referring to and what goals he is going to chase are the real questions. As competitive and difficult as it is to play at the next level, let alone get an opportunity, I just don’t see it happening now. It was already a long shot, but now it is virtually impossible in my opinion. I will go Hopper here and say it is possible but in reality it most likely isn’t.
Who hijacked the board with the stupid posts?
Nothing is ever stupid so keep posting
I guess you don’t see that the board has been hijacked by some idiot posting advertisements
Don’t get why h thinks your comment was directed at him.

After being accused of something so often, an automatic response can be created…typical of the mindset of many minority groups, and the guilty…seeing accusations or contempt, (or fill in the proper descriptor), when none is meant, at least towards them.
It is reported that President Brigham Young once said that he who takes offense when no offense was intended is a fool, and he who takes offense when offense was intended is usually a fool. Forgiveness: The Ultimate Form of Love
Well, the report is Retzlaff is going to Tulane.
Tulane is one of the better mid majors, or whatever they call them now (Group of 5). They beat USC in a New Years Day Bowl a few years ago. It’s a drop in prestige to play in the AAC (All American Conference) as opposed to the Big Twelve but it could be a good situation for him. He is probably playing in the best group of 5 conference and Tulane has been a consistent bowl team recently. If he has a great year it will take some of the sting off losing his senior year at BYU.
