Zona got spanked at KSU, Spanked @Utah. In both games, the losers were made one dimensional by good defenses. Zona has to play Sat. at home vs. TTU. Zona is favored to win at home. BYU has a bye week
Az’s QB, Fifita is a Soph. but started every game last season winning 8 in a row. He was throwing to Singer (Utah Transfer) and McMillian, ranked #1 WR in college football today. All three guys played HS ball together. Singer left for Utah and is the #1 WR over at Utah.
Az has the highest net Rushing in the Big 12…@5.9 ypc but under 100 y per game. Means that Arizona is a pass first team with really good RBs. Translation: If they can pass on BYU, spread us out, their running game will eat clock and score.
Personally, I think our D can harass Fifita, he is NOT a duel QB, so pin the ears back and go after him. Our DBs should handle Az’s receivers even if McMillian gets 140 or so yards. Beating Utah 22-10 is not enough points to beat BYU (We are averaging 36 points vs. solid defenses in the big 12.)
BYU is NOT Utah on offense, we have been scoring TDs because of Retzaiff’s great passing and run TDs…And we have been doing it with injured RBs and 3rd-4th string RBs. we should have all our RBs healthy after this bye week.
And the game is at BYU!
For the first time, BYU is favored in a game, something like 66% chance (I don’t like it, I would rather be the underdog but the cat is outta the bag)

I am not 100% converted to Retzlaff yet. I’ll give him his due on rifle arm and can definitely get in a zone. I worry about the other zone he gets into. If he plays a complete game - good to great in both halfs, then I’m on board. Haven’t seen it yet. So Ill and WY don’t count.
I think our D will hold AZ to 16 and we score 27. Retzlaff 2 TDs and 2 TOs.

Offense will be better with the starting RBs back. The line will be ready as the new center will have had time to work with Retzlaff. Defense is always ready. So, I’m going with 45 - 20.
I’ve seen two Arizona games in a row. Last night a decent but not great TTU D blitzed relentlessly and Fifita didn’t handle it very well. I hope Coach Hill was taking notes.
I disagree, he showed that he’s a mobile qb against the lobos, but maybe they aren’t running him as much now then they did in the first game.
the way to beat them is a good running game and mobile QB. like I have said before I would put in Bohanon in for this game. if not for the full game then for some designed QB run plays.
I’m kind of scared of AZ because they look like a team that could come in and supersize us. they have a good defense and offense. if we come in cocky like we should win this game, we could walk out with and L.
Every team in this league is better than what we were doing as an independent. So, expect tough games every game. I seriously don’t think anyone on the team thinks like we are the new Alabama. We will be ready and the best team on Saturday will prevail. BYU 45 Arizona 20.
The Zona Defense has been very good, maybe the best BYU has faced. Retzaiff has to be ready for when they blitz and make zona pay!
Zona offense has been the Fifita-McMillin duo plus a rushing attack that leads the Big12 in YPCarry. They do not even come close to big 12 leaders in Rushing YPG, that goes to UCF or TCU but they can still extend drives and beat you if we don’t stop the passing attack or the running attack.
BYU beat all their games by stopping what the other team does best, bottom line
and BYU will have all our running backs healthy for the 1st time, plus Moa. I see us as getting 3rd downs and extending drives (our weakess)
