It took about 2 years for Coach Prime to get the right pieces in place but Colo came within a cat’s whisker from making the CFP playoffs. We all know that Shedeur Deion Saunders is going to be taken #1 QB and of course…this guy: Travis Hunter Electrifies Colorado Fans on the Court
Colo Stats
Passing, rank #4 nationally, 327 ypg
Rushing, rank #134, 70 ypg
But their real Strength is their defense…#37 nationally, allowing 22 ppg.
Scoring, #25, 34.5 ppg.
Colo is not going to rush the ball much. They are very lobsided offensively, choosing to pass on 80% of their downs. If BYU has all it’s players, meaning, transfers play in this game. BYU on paper is a very good match up. We are in the top defenses in the big 12 to cover the pass. I still think the advantage is Colo by a hair but BYU has a running game that can extend possessions and I think that is a difference maker.
Vegas has Colo by -5. 54 over/under
I will say BYU by 3.
I agree with your analysis. And, we get healthy over the break, this will help as well. Watch for some interesting play calling too. Yep, trick plays on offense and special teams. How about BYU onside kick to start the game
I really never was a Ropati fan. We had a couple others that played very little that ran harder and were quicker too. I think we will be ready for them.
Agree… if it is used to do that. How many sustained drives did we see over the entire season where BYU extended possessions and controlled the clock? The coaching staff was very poor at clock management. Wasted timeouts, clock running out with no score, taking a long time to get plays in and run them… frustrating. We will see but I’m not going to hold my breath on game management and extending possessions.
How about a reality check? How can you improve anything when you are in denial that there is anything wrong? Fish is hopeful, like all of us should be. That is the glass half full. The reality of this particular situation is that BYU has a difficutl time doing that. It can be improved with better play calling and execution of those better plays. Having a solid run game that is effective and driving the ball down the field can demoralize a defense. Throwing a pass on first and goal that is returned for a pick six touchdown not only hurts your team, it also inspires the other team.
Reality checks have nothing to do with glasses being half full or half empty. In that situation the glass was completely empty.
I think Moa when healthy is probably as good as Ropati. Losing Wakely could hurt but BYU used a lot of safeties this year. Wakely, Walls, Prasus, Harper, Damuni and Alfrey all got significant playing time. Probably another one whose name I can’t remember. Maybe Bomba was the other one but he may be a corner. Harper is out and in the portal but that leaves 4 safeties who have played a lot. Also I am not sure which ones played strong safety and which ones played free safety.
I still think it stinks that guys on scholarship, and maybe getting NIL money can opt out of bowl games and in some cases just quit in mid season. I wouldn’t apply that to Walk-ons who don’t have scholarships like Wakely. They owe it to themselves to go where they can get one and maybe some NIL money. As good as Wakely was he deserved a scholarship and steps should have been taken to keep him. He preserved the Baylor win with his late interception.
Not sure if he didn’t have a scholarship. Seems like somebody on this site said he didn’t and that his wife was supporting him. I could be wrong. Maybe he wasn’t getting any NIL. I don’t know who gets it. If it is only the stars or if everybody gets some NIL.
Well, my wife helped out me through BYU. I did also work as well. And I did not take the summers off. I went straight through with no spring or summers off. These woke kids.
