TTU just beat @Utah 93-65. This is a veteran team with a little more height than Houston (who needs height when you have gazelles, right?). They are more than capable of beating BYU at our place. They come in Ranked #18 on Ken Pom but firmly on the bubble, just like BYU. This game is a true indicator on who goes Dancing in March, it is that important… A loss at Houston does nothing to hurt BYU but this game does.
1 TTU plays a lot of guys, They go 10 deep, kinda like BYU. They are not going to slow down because of altitude
2 TTU is #13 nationally in scoring, 86ppg. Assist 69%, they shoot the rock at 58%, top 10% , so BYU better bring their A game on D. big advantage TTU.
4 @Utah, they shot 46% from 3 and hit 59% from inside, Most team have holes in their offense…these guys are built to bet a lead, keep the lead. BYU has to bring their A game inside and out. Advantage TTU
5 BYU is better at Rebounding 40rg, 37rg TTU, Adv. BYU so we have to win the glass wars small adv. BYU
6 BYU is a different animal at home, have not lost. 8-0 big advantage BYU
7 Inside their go to guy is Toppin. he is a double double machine. 18 ppg and 10 rebs.
8 their two guards are as good as Houston’s…defend the 3!
This will be a close game and in my opinion, a must win
BYU 80-76 TTU
Respect to your scientific and intelligent approach. However, I counter with my knee-jerk undocumented approach: the vibe I’m getting now is that we have two starting guards playing like complete garbage. Egor being overwhelmed and Hall apparently kidnapped and replaced by a doppelgänger who can’t score or defend.
Home sweet home.
Fr. are a different animal at home
Sr’s are predatory animals no matter where they play.
Hope I am right, huge resume builder for the winner
BYU does not have a good win yet. TTU also does not have that big win yet.
Hold serve at home…win a few on the road, get in the dance
I assume you mean the quality of the announcing teams? I actually like having the games on the ESPN network. With ESPN+, I am able to see every single game. If it’s not going to be on BYUtv, I like ESPN+ just fine.
BYU bounces back tonight. TT, with two NET quad 3 losses is beatable, especially in the Marriott. BYU breaks away middle of the second half, wins by 7.
They defended him well because Demin and others can’t hit 3 point shots. Demin finally got one to go. Maybe that will help.
As far as our defense, down the stretch was weak. Other than that, they weren’t lighting the points up either. 62% at FT. 43% shooting. And, only 35% from 3’s. Defense was good enough to win at home. But, BYU shooting 12-21 from the free throw line, that is a loss.
Can’t really bag on Knell. He only got a couple of 3’s off. I’m not really liking this offense. Not getting really good a lot of open shots with it.
