Scouting UAB tonight

UAB starts and stops with their SR, Robert Brown. He played against BYU the two years we played Va Tech so he knows BYU well. Brown is 6’4, 190 and the ball will go through him over 50% of the time.

UAB is not big but they get plenty of scoring from the inside. Their strength is their guards so BYU can get away with playing small ball against them, like Rose loves to do. UAB went 22-2 games before being shocked in their tourney by Western Kentucky. But that is Conf USA, which is rated lower than the WCC by any standard.

They shoot plenty of 3s but nobody shoots over 40%. UAD is very poor at defending (#201) and average at scoring (127) while BYU is better at both ends. BYU has nothing to worry about except for turnovers.

BYU 85-75.

Nothing to worry about? Missing layups and FT. Let’s hope they got that out of their systems.
