So what do we do now?

You do know that OCs and DCs become head coaches, don’t you? If not, eventually there would be no HCs.
And, why are you assuming that it’s the investors side of the Church in charge of BYU football decisions?

Why impoverish the “investment” arm of the church? Why not sell one or 2 of the large welfare ranches / farms or 15 or 20 or the smaller ones, to enrich the football program, what good are those farms anyway? Or maybe sell several temples or many chapels. The members in those localities surely would much rather have a high-flying football team than attending worship services. Or another idea would be a football tax for all members established exclusively for the football team uses (although not tax-exempt). I am sure if the prophet stood up in general conference and announced such a tax, all church members would jump up and down with joy for such a wonderful privilege - after all the very prestige of the church is at stake dependent upon the success of the FB program. Still another idea would be to sell the conference center and church office building and use the proceeds to fund the program. The GAs and all the employees of the church could share offices with the FB staff. General conference could be held in the LES. So there are a few ideas to kick around so we can hire us a passle of Meyers and Sabans to coach our team. I am sure that the program would be imbued with so much more honesty and ethics.

Lol-I like your post:smile::earth_americas::+1: the importance of many things are overstated-BYU athletics are important for a variety of reasons-how much is spent on those programs will be dutifully be carried out by the appropriate parties

Nice! Excellent! So, there are so many temples around BYU area we could sell off;-) I’m sure the Lord is distributing his funds in the proper way. He gives us enough for our enJOYment of athletics to see if we can lengthen our strides and multiply our gifts with what we have. If we do all we can do, all we can do is enough and maybe we can win another national championship:-)

OSU 62 million
Bama north of 80 million
BYU 6 million…and it has to fund the other athletic programs outside of BBall.

Don’t tell Grasshopper

And yet we compete in many sports with the big boys and win! Soccer, volleyball, Rugby and others. Even Football as we beat 2 P-5 teams that pay their coaches very well.

That’s because BYU is a mediocre G-5 program that wants to be a P-5.

You mean the women’s teams in Volleyball and Soccer. The men’s Rugby team is a Club team. Check it out grasshopper.

You check it out! Yes, we compete in many other sports and the coaches are paid less than in the P-5 top programs.

Sr_Burton,
Last Saturday night, vs. Boise State was a shock to everyone. It was a very pleasant and a very needed burst of energy to our program.

I was impressed with Romney. I was impressed with Bushman, I was impressed with our wide receivers. I was impressed with our running backs, I was impressed with our defense. I was impressed with our play calling.

What I was most impressed with was the love and loyalty that the team showed for their coach before, during, and after the Boise State game. They love him and they want to keep him. They respect him. They honor him. This is Sataki’s team.

While we are extremely inconsistent, I am cautiously optimistic that we may have turned the corner.

I am looking to see how we do vs Utah State.

I am anxious to see how we do in our final game vs SDS.

The other 3 games (SHOULD BE) (give me) games to guarantee our bowl game vs Hawaii. Hawaii is ranked above up currently

ESPN liked us in our 8th-week game vs Boise State

Let’s see what happens.

Ron

fish,

“OSU 62 million

I had no idea that things were this bad. I could see bad, but I had no idea just how bad. Thanks for the information.

How can we blame our coaches when they over perform for the pay we give them, but under perform against the coaches that are not underpaid.

How can we blame our players coached by (on the job training) coaches, when they play teams vs those that are coached by the professional high demand coaches that are paid for what they do?

I think that the blame is put to the wrong groups.
Instead, the blame should go to those that program BYU football to fail. The blame should go to those that financially keep BYU Football program from being all that it could be, and once was.

texcoug,

“That’s because BYU is a mediocre G-5 program that wants to be a P-5.”

“If what you say is true, it is because the purse strings ruling over this department funds it team to fail”.

With Lavel Edwards, being the lone exception in our coaching history at BYU, you get what you pay for, and you don’t get what you don’t pay for.

Ron

grasshopper, you sound so juvenal.

Arkie,
You should be asking these questions to grasshopper. Each of you seem to be equal with your thinking and comprehension. I think that the two of you together, can figure out the best answer to your question above.

Don’t forget the OL that gave Romney the time to throw. They played better

We are just responding to your post.

“Don’t forget the OL that gave Romney the time to throw. They played better”

Sr_Burton,
I agree with you that the OL was probably better than at any other game we played this season. I think that all 3 divisions of the team played it’s best game. I think that we were better coached. I think that we had our best and by far, the most aggressive play calling. None of this should take away from Romney, our QB that did a very good job.

With Romney, it was 1,2, release each down. 1,2, release. 1-2-Release. It is very hard for any defense to stop the play when it is 1-2- release. The defense does not have time to make adjustments. I thing that in this regard, Romney is the best we have for quick release. Hall and Wilson may be better dual threats.

Does this mean Romney isn’t reading through his progressions?

Ok I’m going to prognosticate-if Romney starts against USU-he is going to have a rough go of it and get sacked and pressured a lot. I’m more comfortable with dual threat Hall in this game. We will see what the coaches decide
