So what do we do now?

Read Nick Saban Wiki. Very interesting read. He graduated at Kent State with Bachelor in Buisness and a Master Degree in Sport Admin. Became Grad Asst. under Don James at Kent State, Ohio. Small world where he was being around with Don James. And I think one time Nick said that he didn’t want to be coaching in any sports. And he is a millionair business man (well in FB).

dew,
Thank you for the great information. It’s hard to believe, (but I do),
that arguably the greatest college coach in the nation, never wanted to be a coach.

Nick Saben, in spite of the fact that many on this site to not like him for whatever reasons, remains one of my football coach hero’s, along with Urban Myers, Peterson and all the rest in the top ten rankings.

Yes, I understand why so many LDS hate Urban Myers, He lined all the urinals in the shower room before the BYU game at Utah, with BYU Flags and banners for the Utes to release themselves on.

Okay, that was not cool, but the coach is a genius at coaching football. He got the Utes out of a G5 conference and put them into a P5 conference. He left Utah to win a National Championship for Florida. He left Florida to win a couple of National Championships for Ohio State. Currently, he could name his own price if we would accept the HC position at USC. What is there not to like that really makes a difference when choosing a coach that could do great things for your team/college/church?

I might as well go further out on the limb and state that the much-hated Pete Carroll on this site, is another one of my idles.

Yeah, yeah, Reggie Bush et al, but the man in a short time brought two National Championships, and a Heisman Trophy Winner to USC and a Supper Bowl for the Seattle Seahawks.

I judge these guys for the good they do, and not for the bad.
I am not worthy to cast the first stone.

dew and Floyd,

“Will Coach Kalani Sitake take over the DC position? We shall see and will Jeff Grimes be around if he chooses to go back being OL Coach at SEC?”

Wow, this is what I have been screaming about for weeks, if not months. Now that we have given Grimes enough pay to get him to do on the job training as OFC, now that he is experienced, and starting to show great progress with his more aggressive play-calling, will we pay him enough to keep him, or will we refuse to pay enough to keep him and go back to another On The Job training coach with no experience in his coaching area.

Already Sataki has been taking a much more active role in the Defense and improvement is being seen. Will we spend money for a more experienced DC, or will we spread Sataki thin by spending more time with the Defense, or will we just bury our heads in the sand and pretend that we do not have a problem with our defense.

grasshopper:

“United Order was not Communism”.

  1. Describe Comunism.
  2. Describe the United Order.
  3. Explain what the United Order Was and why we do not call it a
    form of Commnism.

We don’t call it that because Communism (Satan Plan) is the artificial counter part to the United Order (God’s plan).

  1. Communism is forced on people (at least so far in history), While the United Order is Voluntary.
  2. In Communism the Land was owned by the government, he United Order recognized and was built upon the principle of private ownership of property.
  3. United Order a bishop’s storehouse in which were collected the materials from which to supply the needs and the wants of the poor. The Communism has no plan for the poor.

Elder Rueben J. Clark had a great article about it: The United Order Vs. Communism - J. Reuben Clark Jr.

So, you support Trump…
I do too for the same reasons. But, I’m not sure if any of those you mentioned would be good for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints unless they get a Temple Recommend. What sayest thou?

Socialism and the United Order by Marion G. Romney speech at BYU, March 1, 1966 Devotional.
Speeches.byu.edu/talks/marion-g-romney/socialism-united-order/

This involves communism as well.

Urben Meyers may did that but I think it has to do with the “Market Locaction” of what Fish said or was it someone else. Oklahoma and Texas turned down the offer to join the Pac10. So Pac10 picked Salt Lake and Denver Market to pick up Utah and Colorado. What if OU and Texas did join the Pac10 and would Pac10 expand to 14 to include Utah/Colo?
Yeah, I was (WE WERE) so disappointed that BYU didn’t get in to P5 (Pac12/Little12).

I know Grasshopper started this off topic. This topic should be on a different subject department. Stick with the Topic Above about Football. Just letting you guys know: Ron, Floyd and SG

There’s actually carry over into football with respect to the money issue of coaches and socialism-capitalism.

Actually, if you go back into the archives it was laid out this way:

  1. The PAC-12 did everything they could to lure both Oklahoma and Texas to their conference.
  2. The Big-12 made some TV and other concessions for both teams to stay with their conference, which as you know they stayed.
  3. The PAC-12 then went after Colorado (for whatever reason) and they choose Utah because of the closeness of the two schools (artificial rivalry). BYU was not included because of the religious aspect of the school.

So Urban Meyers made Utah attractive as an Alternate school to look at because both Texas and Oklahoma turned them down.

I don’t have a problem with a little off topic conversation, since most of the people have stop posting anyways…

It is when it becomes a big long drawn out thing that makes it bad for a Football topic.

Especially when it is intertwined with football.

RU: I do not believe in your theory. We can not recruit P-5 depth without being in a P-5 conference.

Floyd,
(disclaimer)

You are among those on this site that I respect the most. Even when you do not agree with me and even when I do not agree with you, I always respect your intelligent and knowledgeable opinion which you believe your opinion is based on fact, and my opinion is based on what our Bishops in the 1940’s and 50’s told us, which at the time, we believed was based on fact.

I was taught back then, that the United Order had many resemblances to what communism is. The property was gathered by the Communist state to be divided proportionate to the needs and size of the family. The people really had no choice in the matter once communism was established.

The United Order had the property taken, not by the state, but by the Church, and divided proportionate to the needs and size of the family. The people, really had no choice in the matter once the United Order was established,

Much like we in the Western World, can see the fault that does exist in the communist state, there was also rising discontentment among those in the United Order Community, so much so, that the United Order plan came to an end. It was an experiment that did not work.

Except for Brut Force and absolute control, communism is also an experiment that is not working for the poor as originally intended, and it too, should come to an end.

Floyd,
" Actually, if you go back into the archives it was laid out this way: "

I do agree with your post. I would like to add another aspect to it.

I believe that it is our politics and what some would call, (Bias),
that makes us unpopular with many conference schools, especially the Pac 8/10/12.

Bottom line, as we become more like a P5 team, in regards to scheduling a P5 type SOS each season, the more tolorant P5 teams will become towards us. When we start having 7-5 seasons or better vs P5 teams, we will be recogized by most, if hot all, as an Independent P5 team, be it in a P5 conference or be it as a P5 Independent. All we have to do is win and schedule P5 teams. We do not need an invitation. We will earn it on our merit. No excuses.

dew, I agree that the Salt Lake City Market was a big draw.
I also feel that Urban Myers was the catalyst that got the Utes ready and prepared to accept the challenge with BCS bowl wins etc.

The hiring of Urban Myers put the Utes on the available map. When he left for Florida to give Florida a National Championship,
Kyle Whittinghqam, never missed a beat form what he learned from Urban.

Not only has the Utes proved to be worthy of being in the Pac 8/10/12, but they are now one of the leaders in the Pac 12 and we are still struggling as a G5 trying to be respected as an Independent P5.

We are still learning how to play a near P5 schedule. We are still trying to learn how to have a winning record over P5 teams. We are struggling but that struggle is far better than going back to a meaningless G5 conference playing meaningless G5 games that no body cares about outside the G5 community.

I never said that I did or did not support Trump! To do so, would cause have of the people nation wide, one way or another, to hate me.

Correction, about 57 % have disapproval of the subject while about 43% approve of the subject. I would suspect that the opposite percentages would be more true in Utah and perhaps Texas as well.

You are so incorrect. I gave you Marion G. Romney’s general Conference about socialism and the United Order. The United Order did not force one soul to give up their property. Listen to that talk because possibly it was in response to incorrect information that you got. Floyd was correct concerning the Untited Order. And, furthermore, socialism is a secular order of the government of a country, state and so on. The United Order will be run and directed by Jesus Christ in a perfect manner without force.

In not so many words, you did. You might not recognize this. Many who don’t support Trump personally support all that he’s done with the country. But are unable to overcome all the negativity that supports a real coup.
