So what do we do now?

As I told fish, right now (since USC) we have been starting a lot of freshman and sophomores because of injuries.
Right now we have 3 freshman starting on the O-LINE as an example.

But the experience will be a great advantage for the next few years.

We know why we lost to Utah. Pick 6’s and fumbles. Not scoring in the redzone. In that game, our defense was actually very good. As it was in the next 2 games. So far, the only game our defense has given up a lot of points was Washington. Yardage means nothing if we stop their scoring.
At this point, our belief in why we lost against 2 week teams was coaching. Seems like that has been resolved. We can play with P-5 teams.

BYU is who they are. On the road wins at Tenn, Beating a very down year USC but losing to elite P12 teams of Utah and Wash. BYU would be about where Cal or Az are if they were to get into the P12. BYU would rank somewhere in the 40s.

Fowlers brought up that point during the USU game. “At one point BYU was playing all Fr and Soph.”

outside of N. Bama, BYU does not have a single easy game.

After this year, “easy game” should be out of our language.

And BYU wins 40 some % over all, that is the history, except this year we won 2 0f 4 P-5 games. Look at many P-5’s , even Alabama, they play three or more G-5 or FCS games all at home in pre-conference-season and even with breaks in conference season. Alabama plays New Mexico St., Southern Miss and Western Carolina, all at home this year. 8 home games, one neutral site in Atlanta (Duke) and three away games and 7 conference games.

I think they should drop Northern Alabama and have two bye weeks to recoup… Just an opinion here.

I didn’t get to watch the game because I went to the Latino “Light of the Nations” festival because of my current assignment as an inner city missionary, I also have a grandson that is learning Spanish, so I thought it might good for him to hear the native Latino’s sing and dance.

By the time I got home, it was like 5 minutes left in the game, so I finished that and listen to the post game show on KBYU. That is where I heard that comment.

We should always play 12 games like the big boys. Keep NA with a difficult schedule.

Tell me another team with that type of schedule? you can’t.

They should have two bye weeks.

We had two bye weeks this year and will still play 12 games. Duh!

Well Duh… It is not about the number of games played, it about the quality of the opponents we play against next year.

This year we have three “soft” teams to counter our 5-6 “tough” games (Utah, Tenn, USC, Washington, BSU and USU).

Next year we don’t really have any “Soft” games

Sep. 5 – at Utah - P5 Team
Sep. 12 – Michigan State - P5 Team
Sep. 19 – at Arizona State - P5 Team
Sep. 26 – at Minnesota - P5 Team
Oct. 2 – Utah State - G5 Team
Oct. 10 – Missouri- P5 Team
Oct. 17 – Houston - G5 Team
Oct. 25 – at Northern Illinois
Oct. 31 – North Alabama or BYE
Nov. 7 – at Boise State - G5 Team/Almost P5
Nov. 14 – San Diego State - G5 Team
Nov. 21 – North Alabama or BYE
Nov. 28 – at Stanford - P5 Team

Name a soft game in the list besides Northern Alabama. NUI beat us once, so they are no push over.

So we are playing 6 P5 teams (this year 4) and 4 G5 teams. Can you name me one other school that has this type of schedule?

Floyd,

I am happy and proud that our AD, (TH), is holding the line, and continuing to program us so that we can eventually play successfully a P5 like schedule.

This year, we beat 2 of the 4, P5 teams that we played. For now, I might call that almost successful.

Once we get to the point that we can beat 5 out of 9 P5 teams
that we play, plus all of the G5 teams that we play all in the same season, than I truly believe that ALL OR AT LEAST MOST, of all College football will recognize us as an Independent P5 team.

We won’t have to wait for an invitation. Our record will dictate the outcome, with or without an invitation.

grasshopper,

What Floyd is telling you is that N.Alabama is listed two times on the same schedule where a bye week would normally be.

When it is determined which of those two bye weeks listing N. Alabama, will actually be played by N. Alabama, than that will make only one bye week and we will still have 12 games.

Unlike Saban, most of us can walk and chew gum at the same time.
grasshopper,You have got to be kidding. Nick Saben, like him or not, is a football genius.

grasshopper,

Next season, like us, Northern Alabama will be an Independent.

Last season, NA was a FCS team with a 6 win season. This should be a "give me " game, or at the very least, an easy win.

It is obvious that Saban cares nothing about anything other than football
Maybe this is why Alabama pays him $8 Million per year. Maybe, when Alabama pays top dollar for a top notched coach, they expect that coach to be focused on football,

Nobody can be all things to all people. Let Bishops be focused on their jobs; mission presidents be focused on their job, Stake Presidents be focused on their jobs, GA be focused on their jobs, and have our coaches be focused on their jobs.

I doubt if we have a GA that would make a good HC. Why do we expect our HC to do the job of a Bishop, Mission President,
Stake President or GA?

Is it more frugal, more conservative, more dedicated, and more loyal to hire a $1 million per year coach that could give us a $8-10 million dollar TV contract?

or

Would it be better to hire a HC for $4 Million per year that could get us a $22-27 Million TV Contract?.

TV contracts is not the only advantage.

It is also the bleacher sell-outs vs. partially full/empty seats.
It is also the concession stands rent during home games.
It is also the student store sells.
It is also the difference in respect of the team, the university and the church.

Grasshopper:
May I suggest that you spend more time reading the D&C, Pear of Great Price, The B of M, and the Holy Bible and spend far less time listening to FOX NEWS.

In the meantime, open your windows for fresh air, take two aspirins, get plenty of rest and turn off the TV. By morning, you will be just fine.

If we play them then we play 13 games. Maybe we get to 6 wins

So, President Benson didn’t have Fox News and he figured out the United Order was not Communism. So, I guess I don’t need Fox News to know communism is not the order of the Lord. How about you?

Minnesota is undefeated so far this year. Yeah, they will be tough next year (I think).
As you said in other posts, our younger players (Frosh/Soph) are stepping up and will be ready next year.
Will Coach Kalani Sitake take over the DC position? We shall see and will Jeff Grimes be around if he choose to go back being OL Coach at SEC?
