If you want an objective opinion on whether there is a bias in favor of certain teams in the NCAA, you should talk to Coach Littlewood about it. He has an impressive resume as a referee for Division 1 basketball including elite 8 in the NCAA tourney. He says he enjoys coaching baseball more than refereeing because the travel is less demanding. I think you could get an honest assessment from him if you catch him sometime you are in Provo.
I would really enjoy a summary of what somebody who lives there finds out if they can talk with him. I donāt know if his opinions would get him in trouble. A lot of the time people canāt say what they really believe because of the fear of it coming back on them.
But that probably isnāt a real thing, just something I am imagining and making upā¦
Are you in Provo? If so, why donāt you ask him for us. Tell them Jim leads the conspiracy theories for Cougar Fan and wants the truth
Also more flaws, I still donāt understand why those big schools refused to come to Provo during non conference games. I got so fed up why they have to play at the neutral site playing in the Larry Miller Arena (former Delta Center) like we played Michigan State and Oklahoma State. No way I want to play TUN at the neutral site or at Huntsman Center again.
Interesting, now we got Mid Majors playing in the NIT Final 4 - BYU, Valpro, George Washington & SDSU. That more like it and hopefully those refs will let them play and keep their whistles at home.
When you say āthemā are you talking about Dave Rose as well? Iām sure he would have some interesting things to say off the record.
Anybody who has had any close association with BYU and the sports programs knows how it goes. They just have to do their best to look past it all, overcome it and win. The further you go down the revenue ladder the easier it becomes because it is the money that is the most corruptive influence.
Not sure it would make any difference to you though. You have your mind made up about everything and you already know it all.
I could give you the long explanation about why my wife and I live in Provo a few weeks out of the year and the rest of the time in Northern California. It has to do with staying connected with our kids who all married and fled California. The short answer to your question is that I likely wonāt be going back to Provo until the summer. I donāt have any special connection with Littlewood but I am sure he could tell you some good stories and shed some light on the whole bias subject. You might get him to say something if he knew it was off the record. If you make it back there during the baseball season, you might catch him mulling around before or after one of the home games.
You might take UNC out of the perspective. Williams got them to buy into staying for 3-4 years and now they are playing for a title.
I was just all warm inside when I heard how Few had taken Kyrstowhack behind the shed. Latter the Zags posted a ball in seat belts with the caption; āSafety Firstā. Karma carries a big stickā¦HAHAHAHA
just as an example of the world I live in
The Sporting Newsā Bill Bender compiled a list of the 16 schools with the best football and menās basketball combinations in the country, and the Cougars came in at No. 11. To determine the order, Bender averaged the teamsā winning percentages since 2010. Ohio State took the top spot.
That is a legitimate point and definitely credible. I will add that to the information I use to formulate an opinion. Thanks.
Your comment about āthe world I live inā was kind of unnecessary but that is another discussion point.
Thanks again for the information. The LDS connection is definitely BYUās saving graceā¦
