Catchings was not going to be a starter because he was slow on D. Catchings mentioned it himself, “Coaches are always on me about D, I know I have to step it up”.
You can hide a poor defender if the other four guys are extra good. Basically what we had in Knell. who as a Sr. brought a lot to the table. If I were Catchings, I would work to get 10 rebs in a game and prove that I should be a starter. Dennis Rodman is a Hof Famer who couldn’t shoot a lick but willed his 6’8 body to lead the NBA in Rebs…Barkley was also an incredible rebounder, and at 6’4. So it is a mindset.
Catchings is most def. a NBA prospect and if he declared today, he would be drafted, that is how much the NBA lives by the 3, It’s just that Catchings would not be drafted very high and would sit on the bench for the 1st 3 to 5 years. The NBA is full of guys like that. I will be watching him at Purdue.
I have always liked Hall’s game. His knock is that he has not progressed as a Defender. He is good but KY wants a final 4 and to do that, every player has to be outstanding on D as well as scoring.
The metrics has Houston as the #1 team in America. Do stats mirror real play? In this case, YES, Houston embarrassed Tenn. Houston’s perimeter defense is #1 nationally, they simply do not allow 3s. On the flip side, Houston’s 3 starting guards all shoot over 41% from 3. #9 on offense and #1 nationally on defense. the reason why I chose them to win it all.
I chose them too. They will have their hands full with America’s team, Duke. Honestly though, Texas Tech blew it because they had opportunities to win the game in spite of the way the game was being called, which favored Duke in my opinion. It’s something I try to explain to the Hopper but because he is so oriented to arguing first and trying to understand later it is hard to help him understand. I don’t think the games are rigged or fixed but I do think they are influenced often because of bias and favoritism.
I’ll just leave it at that.
I think Houston is the best team because of their defense.
Hmm… I think I pretty much said that. Sometimes I wonder what is going on with you. Do you even bother to read others posts here or are you too wrapped up in your own thoughts to even understand what others say?

You just can’t help it. You say one thing but believe another.
and the international squads are filled with short term NBA players like that too. I was just looking at Frank Jackson’s career earlier today…Jabari Parker also comes to mind. For that matter Eric Mika…all had the goods to have solid NBA careers but left college ball too soon to fully mature, to hone the skills that would have bought them a solid though not spectacular career in the League.
I’m just saying that when you tell kids to come and we will build you into an NBA player you have to deliver in these days. If not, these great players will not come and play for you. And in the end, after the hype, you’ll start to lose more and more games and lose your job anyways.
I watched a little of the Duke vs Alabama game the other day. They were showing a replay of a Duke player pulling down a Alabama player to the floor. The Ref’s reviewed the play and called as a normal foul, instead of a Flagrant foul.
The commentators then showed an instance in the same game where Alabama player pulled down a Duke player and was called for a Flagrant foul. They looked almost identical.
Even the commentators were confused by the decision of the obvious bias officials.
That told me all I needed to know about Duke and “Wonder Boy” getting preferential treatment.
a ship without a rudder. Adams Jr., I count this as his 5th team. Kansas, GOnzaga, BYU, riverside, now ASU. If the kid commits and works on his body (I was shocked at how fast he ballooned while at BYU) but to do that as a teenager while in college where every girl is checking you out, not a good sign.
??? you lost me at Duke.
The dance was sooo flawed. Bama players celebrating their made 3s. Knell gets hit with a T for the very same thing in the very same game.
Houston’s roster should be the model: Athleticism + fundamentals + relentlessness + unselfishness/leadership + physicality (backcourt as well) + moxie. For that matter coach K.C. Beard would be a great coach when KY needs a replacement on the bench.
He was pretty much overwhelmed by the size and strength of defenders in the Big12. It also may mean Demin will play another year. Also, Baker worked out as a point on occasions too.
Perfect example of what I was talking about. I saw it and thought the same thing. Those two plays couldn’t have been more alike yet one team got the flagrant call and the other did not. I say the same thing about many of BYU’s plays where one of our guys drives hard to the basket and gets contact with an opposing player but no call. The same thing happens with the other team against a BYU player and they get the call. The plays are mirror images of each other. The Hopper always says they are not but he does that to justify his continued denial of what is going on. I’ve stated my case and I know it is correct. Sorry Hopper, I have lots of proof to back it up.
Overwhelmed you say. If I (having been to three practices) were to describe Crawford I would say: Explosive, thick lower body, smart, top 13 point guard. Confident, the heir apparent.
All this young Stanford smart kid is doing a, “I’m going to throw my name out there and fish for what the market will offer” I can always come right back to BYU.
Let me point out that our two players, Catchings and Crawford, while big time stars and eventual NBA players, Between the two of them, only added about 2.2 points per games. BYU is losing a great inside scorer, Foos. We need to replace that with maybe a great rebounder/defender because BYU with Dybansa, Saunders and possibly Demin would mind blowing
Need another great defender like Mag. In fact, If I were to have a clear MVP… Saunders, easy call, but second has to be Mag, the stopper .
and seeing what his NIL value is…hope he comes back gets more playing time and gets set to start as PG on a a consecutive final four team…completely blue goggle
Crawford had several power conference offers out of high school and ultimately chose BYU over other offers from Florida and Kansas–meaning a final four squad and a pre-season no. 1 ranked squad…
That’s nice about Crawford but when he did get playing time he froze. He did nothing to get himself back on the floor. Great in practice but not great in the game. Why?
Have you seen him practice? How do you know that he plays different between practice and a game? Like I said, have you even seen him in practice?
How did he “freeze”? what does that even mean?
If you sight SN, then please provide the date the subject matter was discussed. You post a lot of opinions, but you never back it what with actual facts.
You aren’t following anything. You see I post and you go right to me to be snarky and in attack mode. I was responding to the great fish who has been to three practices and knows everything.
