I have never seen photos of Stan Watts so young.
Not NCAA champions that year but if I recall correctly, BYU had invites to both NIT and NCAA. Won the NIT and lost to Kansas State early the following week. KState lost to Kentucky in the NCAA championship.

Thanks for that footage. I think that is the first time I have ever seen any footage of that team. I have searched YouTube trying to find footage of the 1966 NIT team but can’t find any. Anybody know where to find any? I saw their championship game on national TV back when I was in high school but can’t even find a clip of it anywhere. That team averaged well over 90 points a game in an era before the shot clock and 3 point shot.
I have kept my eyes open for film of the Stan Watts teams but haven’t seen any other.

Cosice was I think the greatest BYU player of all time, but despite Frier being there the rest of the team just didn’t have the depth to equal Watt’s earlier squads.
