UCF, why this became a nail biter. Great win!

1 lets get this one out of the way. Daillo came back from injury and shut down the inside and Foos.

2 Foos, Khalifa were getting blocked soo fast, BYU had to look elsewhere.

3 The reason for 46 FTs, UCF ran us off the 3 pt line all night, and…

4 Refs made a change in foul calling, blame it on Bill Self.

5 Had UCF not bricked so many of their FTs, 14-26, this game would have us pretty frustrated today

6.Now for the good stuff…40-46 ties a Marriott record, and after the KSU game, who knew?

7 Robinson saved the 1st half with his 4 pt play and 3 pt to end the half. Did Pope really draw up a 3 pt play after his TO??? Robinson saved the 2nd half with 12-13 FTs. approaching star status.

8 Hall won this game with his ball handling. UCF simply could not disrupt Hall all night. Just 1 TO with 5 assists does not tell the complete story.

9 Waterman had to play a lot of big men when Pope went to a small lineup because Khalifa and Foos were turnover machines. 9 rebs. 9-10 FTs, 17 pts while playing the most team minutes, I apologize for all the mean things I said early in the year, That Oop to Atiki was sick, Dude is ballin!

10 Knell had himself a big night with 10-13 FTs, 17 pts, still a poor defender, got called every stinkin time he hand defended. Ugh!

11 Two last things, other than the UCF 1:30 blitzkrieg 12 point run and the 4-5 from 3land to end the game, BYU played a pretty solid game. Won’t be taking the sacrament Sunday and from the way we lose big leads I may have to abstain for a month or tape delay games hahahahahaha, enjoy the ride!

These leads that dwindle in the 2nd half towards the end isn’t happening just to BYU. It’s happening all across the Big12 league. Someone said on BYUSN today that had we been in the WCC still, we probably would have lost that game. OK State is at home and we better watch out for the same kind of thing. We need to extend leads like before league started.

BYU has a big problem. you can’t have it both ways, arguing with Hawks about our lack of drawing fouls because of shot choice and pointing out that opposing teams focus on guards driving to get fouled by slower BYU guards. And saying that everyone is having lead problems. It is almost entirely a BYU problem.

BYU ranks #354th @ 24% FTR, the ability to draw a foul and get to the free throw line. We have been at 22% or about dead last in all D1 in that stat most of the season. Why is this sooooo important? If BYU could draw fouls, we would be getting their guards into foul trouble-They could not play so dang aggressive with 3 or 4 fouls vs 1 or 2 and that is the RUB.

BYU finally won the game when their best guard, Johnson, fouled out of the game in the last minute…the reason why they went from driving in to get fouled to their insane 4-5 from 3land with Marchowshi and Sellers. Shocked everyone because UCF was 1-13 before the second half.

Apples and oranges. I’m not trying to say one has something to do with the other. You tried to make that connection. Why other teams are struggling to keep leads isn’t the same is why BYU is. We both have stated the obvious why BYU normally shoots less free throws. The second half was foul calling ridden. But they purposely fouled BYU in the last 5 minutes hoping to make up the difference. It worked until the last 2 or 3 minutes.

:joy:You need it, opportunity to repent.

The Hopper will say whatever fits his current narrative. It’s what Hoppers do, they HOP from one thing to the next!
