SMC has a tough Neutral game with ASU on Wed. Win that and they get close to being ranked again. N with Nevada…….Bennett is a cagey dude when it comes to scheduling. He will never leave Moraga if he can help it and if he does, its a neutral setting.
I noticed this morning that BYU jumped to 29 in the Sagarin ratings. Highest ranked 4-loss team there, with an impressive strength of schedule. But you’re right: next few games will cause the SOS to take a hit.
Bingo, you can look at every single team in the top 30, not named Gonzaga, and most have very weak schedules. We really need teams like SMC and USU to win their games this week. SMC vs ASU and USU vs Florida.
BYU just slid into Bracketology as of last night whereas, they were nowhere to be seen a week ago. Officially, BYU is firmly in the driver’s seat from here on out. The sad thing is, we play seriously weak SOS from here on out and that will diminish our body of work. BYU cannot stumble against any team outside of San Francisco, SMC and Gonzaga. And they have to win at home against everyone except Gonzaga.
I am not sure Pope will let that happen, if it does, the players will know “realistically” that Pope does not accept let downs.
Pope and his coaches will make sure that the players play hard for all their games.
Pope and his coaching staff are the key to how well BYU is playing. He is a great leader and motivator of our players. Just what BYU needed after the past few years.
Sure feels that way. BYU is locked in as the best outside shooting team in America But can we win games when we are away and our 3s are not falling?
The only guy on our team that seems willing to drive inside is Haws. Barcello can do it but second guesses himself. Barcello is our co MVP with his ability to guard the toughest player on the other team.
We can play inside against most of the WCC. Not worried. Not worried about two or three being hot from outside every game either.
Have to agree with you-few of us thought we would be where we are right now without Baxter and Child’s-give credit to Pope for changing the BYU mindset. Ainge was the consummate great athlete
Yeh I agree and A lot rides on not having any terrible losses from here on out. A loss to Gonzaga won’t hurt or one to SMC, but you can’t lose to any bottom feeders
It actually helps us the better SMC and Gonzaga do as it adds to our SOS-so go Gaels
Don’t leave San Fran out of the picture. It would not be the end of the world if BYU lost on the road to San Fran. They can take down anyone on a good night.

San Fran is usually pretty tough and we have done well against them so hopefully that continues-that will be a huge road game along with SMC-but there is something about this year-a good feeling💪
Pepperdine isn’t doing badly either. We have to take every game one at a time. Play smart meaning don’t turn the ball over more than 8 to 10 times for layups like the Utah game. Shoot 40%+ from 3’s and get Childs the ball in the paint a lot.
