Nothing was stolen. The ref immediately threw his flag before the sack. And he was clearly held as the announcers said. Then, there’s the face mask that didn’t occur as the announcers pointed out that led to an Utah score. Both had 10 penalties. And, that kind of behavior from an AD is immature and childish. Just like Trump, right?

Agree with you on that. The announcers said it was a good call. Even if the AD really believes the game was stolen he was wrong to come on the press conference and say that. Whittingham showed more class. He yelled at the refs but when talking to the press he. said his team didn’t make a stop late. He didn’t shake Kalani’s hand but he was very upset. I will give him a pass this time.
I wouldn’t say the AD should resign but his university president should discipline him in some way even it is just a demand that he make a public apology. The Big 12 needs to tell him to pound sand. Officials make mistakes, but they didn’t on the hold call. Utah is notorious for pushing the limits on press coverage. Most of the time they get away with it. Occasionally they don’t and last night they didn’t on one critical play.
Even if the AD had said some bad calls cost the U game I could live with it. To say the game was stolen is just anger talking. The ref threw the flag before Retzlaff was sacked. He probably didn’t even see what was happening near the end zone. To say the game was stolen implies something sinister like the ref was thinking “Retzlaff was sacked so I better bail BYU out”. What he said was classless and he should have kept his mouth shut until he cooled off. What was he even doing in a postgame interview? You never see an AD in a postgame interview. The game wasn’t stolen. There is no excuse for saying things like that. It implies the official who made the call was dishonest. If he wanted to say the refs made bad calls that cost them the game I can excuse that. He defamed the officials and the conference. He needs to cool off and apologize. If he wants to ask for the officials to be reviewed by the conference fine.

Well, BYU did not win that game in a fair manner either…
Like I said, those officials screwed BYU in the first half which cost them to be down 21 to 10 in the first half, then they screwed Utah in the second half.
Just curious, why do people put so much faith in what the announcers say? Most of the time they do not understand the application of the rules, nor do they understand why the call was made.
I do agree Harlan should not have said what he did, instead he should have reported the officials to the BIG12 to investigate the issue. Which is they find to have some validation, the officials could be booted from the conference.

It was a poorly officiated game! However, the official determined holding and threw the flag. It didn’t cost Utah the game as the ball only came out to the BYU 19. Utah had opportunities to shut BYU down and couldn’t do it and that’s on UTAH. It would be like BYU saying the bogus facemask cost them the game or the ridiculous roughing on a qb that had broke out of the pocket and went down with incidental contact after he released the ball. It’s all part of happenings within the game. You can all act like spoiled little children, but Utah and BYU both had their shot to win this game and this time, BYU came out on top

Just another example of the fact that Utah has no class. They do this kind of stuff over and over and nobody holds them accountable.

No one is agreeing with you. Time to end it and realize the penalty happened and kudos to the referee for having the guts to call it. The experienced announces called it a definite correct call. Admit you are wrong and trying to diminish what the Cougars did.
