What is happening at BYU?

People have always had agency, even in the days of Joseph Smith. The concept of Agency has been around for long time. so, I am not sure where you got the idea.

In the past, did youth do it because they chose to do it or because they were forced to by parents, church leaders, etc.

It not about being “guilt free”, it is about doing the right thing for the right reason.

how many kids was forced to go on missions by parents or Bishops, because that was the standard expected of them.

some of the these missionaries turned out okay, but a lot wasted time getting through it. I personally know of 7 in my own mission that should never have went out.

I wasn’t talking about our religion, read the New Testement for the group I am talking about.

I agree, but these changes came across the pulpit in conference. This isn’t a policy change, this is a gosoel doctrine refinement.

you know, line upon line, concept upon concept.

To me, that means they were speaking in the name of the Lord.

These are just my opinions, I could be wrong, but I haven’t read anything to change my mind.

I happened to come across a clip of Charlie Kirk debating a young lady and whether it’s right or wrong for a man to go into a locker room naked or not because he identifies as a woman. The young lady said she would be okay with this to accommodate the oppressed. Kirk’s response is what I think our response should be when it comes to right and wrong. Good and evil. moral and immoral. “You look at the world through trying to accommodate the comfort of the “oppressed.” We look at the world through right and wrong, moral and immoral and just and unjust. We don’t care about making people “comfortable.” We care about what is right.”

Sounds like BYU and the Church has been about accommodating the wicked looking at them as the oppressed. I can see why BYU didn’t invite Kirk because he would make members question what the heck is going on with our leaders? I’m glad BYU and hopefully the Church can move back towards more about right and wrong rather than accommodating wickedness in a way that makes those struggling with their testimonies still feel accepted. That’s where we as the members come in and minister to these people directing them back to the covenanted path. It’s going to be like threading a needle. I’ve threaded many needles over my lifetime and still am doing so.

It’s more like the administration is trying to be more accommodating to those who cannot control their bodies, parts and passions. Perhaps to keep them in our influence while helping them gain faith in Jesus Christ and put off their natural man. The problem with this is that those who are weak but still keeping the commandments are negatively influenced. Trying to thread a needle with wickedness seems to be not working. Charlie Kirk stated that it’s better to be clear about being right instead of wrong and not to accommodate wrong, evil, immorality and the unjust. Be clear how to stay on the covenant path to the Celestial Kingdom and not the lower kingdoms. Of course, Kirk didn’t say the last sentence.

Scott, are you posting with a sock puppet (two different accounts,)? Or are grasshopper and Scott_Gavenman two different posters?

They are the same guy.

And I don’t even know how it happened or how to fix it.

But spelling the word discern is still difficult….

Decern - an archaic spelling of discern.

So there you go, spelled improperly at an archaic time, definitely before the gospel was restored.

Made me laugh Jcoug. You rarely disappoint

Listen, if it’s in Webster’s unabridged dictionary it’s good. Spelling has always been my only weakness. When I got to BYU as a Junior, I had to take a spelling test. The proctor told me I missed passing by one word and let me look over the test. I had gone to the library prior to the test and went through the Webster Unabridged Dictionary and was sure I spelled “developement” correctly. That the “e” was there between the “p” and the “m”. So, she walked over with me to the library and we checked. And, there it was! The English spelling with the “e.” I passed

So how long is it until you are translated? Your only weakness?

I have no words…

It’s already happened.

I said “translated”, not transgendered….

From now on we will call Scott she/her, or maybe they/them if he is non-binary.
