Sloan would be in that category but wasn’t on quite the same level as Havlicek. He would be about equal except as a shooter and scorer.
Hopper, let’s just stop. We all know that your reason for being on cougarfan is to DEBATE anything anyone says, no matter how ridiculous your argument. HALL is the entire reason why BYU is fighting for a 4 seed vs. the predicted 13th seed procastinators said would be BYU’s 1st season in the Big 12.
Hall has been about perfect in our win streak. He is a sophomore for heaven’s sakes.
Without him, BYU would be a dump fire.
So far in this thread, you have advocated for Knell vs. Saunders and gone so far as to say Saunders does not even come in for Knell. All rubbish.
Now it’s Hall and his FT %.
But, carry on, your daily arguments bring us a smile a minute. Entertainment at it’s best.
Let’s face it. You just can’t handle the truth
Now, you are just not being honest. I’ve stated that Saunders should be playing more time. it’s just that he comes in for Waterman. Pay attention. You stated you didn’t watch much of the games last week. Does he play the 3 on occasions? Sure! But, tell me who else would come in for Waterman off the bench? Ummm…no one. I’d like to see Adams but I guess that isn’t in the cards.
Again, Hall has played great! But, when there is fouls to be made by the other team, Pope has been pulling him out. Haven’t you noticed? 59% FT for Hall. That’s Wilt Chamberlain territory.
not only did I watch the games in their entirety but I rewatched both games when we made our runs before i posted. You Hopper, pic and choose your posts to defend your argu-points.
Does anyone like LeBron? anyone?
So, why don’t people like Lebron. Or, should I say, why don’t you like Lebron?
You asked, I will answer:
-
He Is the Self-Proclaimed King - LeBron committed a cardinal sin before he even stepped on an NBA court…he gave himself a nickname.
-
Pre-Game Routine - Not only did LeBron base his pre-game routine on Kevin Garnett, but he makes himself look like a five-year-old child playing with his mother’s Johnson & Johnson powder.
-
ESPN Coverage - ESPN should just rename itself JAMESPN. (Get it? A hybrid of James and ESPN.)
-
Zero Clutch Factor - Being that James has proven, time and time again, that he simply can’t close out games makes it is difficult to regard him as one of the best ever to play the game.
-
His Backhanded Comments - Whether it is about how great he thinks he is or how important he thinks he is, James has constantly put his foot in his own mouth.
-
Jordan Comparisons - This one doesn’t even have to be explained.
-
Disrespect for the Game - Yet another point that doesn’t need arguing. Just watch the video…
-
Giving Up on Cleveland - If you make that kind of promise to a miserable sports city that hasn’t seen a championship since 1964 from the Browns, you have to stick by it. And did LeBron stick by it and fulfill this promise? You guessed it, no.
-
Cowardliness - He couldn’t handle being “the man” for the Cavaliers, so he left to join two other superstars. This allows the media and his critics to lighten any blame on him, since he isn’t the guy.
-
“The Decision” - Since his first game on the court to his very last, the people of Cleveland and the fans of the Cavaliers put everything into this man’s hands. In fact, they put him on an undeserving pedestal for his entire career. They loved him, they rooted him on, and they treated him like the second coming of Jesus. And how does he tell them he’s leaving? On a ridiculous, too say the least, one-hour show on ESPN. He took his “talents to South Beach” and pressed a knife into the back of the city of Cleveland on national television.
When you post someone else’s work, you should give them credit. Where did you get this from? Someone from Cleveland for sure. Well, sounds to me more like sour grapes from Cleveland. Are basketball players now slaves to the cities they play in? I see players move around quite a bit since they have that ability more now days. Still less than College athletes who can leave during a season. LeBron is not a slave. He signed a contract. When that contract is up, there is nothing unethical about him going elsewhere to play.
So, let’s compare him to Jordan? Jordan has 5 children with two different wives. LeBron has 3 children all with the same wife. Jordan left basketball for baseball leaving his buddy Pippen and Chicago high and dry for baseball. LeBron stuck it out in basketball and left when his contracts were up. He will probably end with the Lakers. The thing is, he still loves the game and plays at the same high level.
Yes, he came into the league in a showboat, Muhammad Ali manner and showboated. It’s funny how the gym rats attack his play when he leads the league in many areas. The most significant one of course, 40,000 points. I don’t see anyone doing that again, do you? I’m not a LeBron fan either. I don’t like his politics. But, there is no doubt he’s one of the greatest of all times.
Why? they are combination of the ones that I have felt for a long time.
I remember when the NBA tried to force the same thing with Kobe when he first started out, making Kobe the “heir apparent to MJ…” The NBA fans rejected it, not because Kobe was not good, but rather it should be “Earned” not “Given”. Kobe eventually became the new image of the NBA and a lot of fans embraced him for it.
Jordan has 6 rings, Lebron 4
-
Jordan made everyone around him better. James makes everyone bend to his wants and needs.
For example, everyone remembers the Shot that Jordan made against the Jazz when he was so sick, but that was not the shot that won the game for them. It was a shot made by Paxson, AFTER Jordan dissed it off to him. The same thing in the first championship series with the Jazz, the shot that beat the Jazz was made by Steve Kerr, NOT Jordan. -
Jordan actually plays defense, Lebron watches.
Jordan actually “retired” from basketball to persuade his baseball passion, Lebron left town when things didn’t go his way. -
Jordan works with coaches, Lebron gets coaches fired.
As for the personal life stuff, that is beyond the scope of this discussion (remember to stay in Scope Scott, please). You asked why people hated Lebron, I told you why on the Basketball side of the issue.
To prove my point about staying in scope,
Who do you like better for the economic policies? Trump or Biden. You will pick Trump, right?
But Trump has had several marriages, had affairs with multiple women while still being married, eventually ditches his wife for the mistress.
Biden has had one wife his entire life, while his family may be messed up.
See how going out of scope, loses the argument for you?
Blah, blah, blah…You simply are a narcissist that cannot stand someone else having a difference of opinion and sometimes put you in your place…
To put me in my place, you would have to have a stat or a credible source to back up your points. Throwing out insults would only matter if I cared.
Did I ruffle you by asking Hawks if anyone on the board liked LaBron? Within two paragraphs you not only defended LaBron by presenting his many achievements. I don’t think anyone on this planet would debate his many records. What I asked was, “does anyone like him” and by the end you stated, “NO, don’t like his politics”.
What you should do, Hopper, is lock yourself into a tiny room with a mirror and debate yourself.
I apologize for bringing Lebron into the discussion.
I’m going to switch gears here and mention another player I don’t like very well and see what people have to say.
Kevin Durrant.
He is a lot like Lebron… selfish player who looks for greener pastures when things aren’t to their liking. I don’t think players like these have a place in today’s NBA but that is how the league is structured now… a kind of reflection of our culture and society.
What’s in it for me? I’m the only person that matters. I will yap about how great I am and how everyone else needs to take care of the needy but my needs will come first!
“Though by no means is James stingy when it comes to giving back: his LeBron James Family Foundation has raised and given a whopping $100 million to at least seven foundations, supporting at least 12 causes.”
Did LeBron James give money to charity?
Yes, LeBron James is known for his philanthropic efforts and has donated millions of dollars to various charities and causes over the years. His charitable organization, the LeBron James Family Foundation, was established in 2004 and works to improve the lives of children and families in his hometown of Akron, Ohio.Feb 15, 2023
- Basketball legend Michael Jordan proves that it is better to give than to receive by making a record-setting donation of $10 million to Make-A-Wish America in honor of his 60th birthday on Feb. …
“The Kevin Durant Charity Foundation (KDCF) has donated over $13 million since its founding and has supported initiatives dealing with youth athletics, organizations serving youth facing homelessness, the renovation of 19 basketball courts across the world and giving educational opportunities to low-income and first- …”
You are a bad man!
Durrant?
you are a badder man!
hopper, I want to apologize but it’s too funny.
Great, he has a charitable foundation that he “RAISES MONEY” for and uses it as a tax shelter. How thoughtful and kind. When you can show the details of exactly what it is that is taking place I will include it in consideration. He isn’t sacrificing a thing… get real.
That’s pretty low. I believe it says he put in 10 million of his own money. And, by the way, who doesn’t write charitable gifts off when they can. You have to make a lot to be able to do so. So, I guess you would like the U.S. Government not to allow right offs. That means that the Church should be paying hundreds of millions of dollars in taxation then.
First of all it is WRITE OFFS, not right offs. Secondly, I never said anything about the U.S. Government and what they do. There you go again, putting words in other people’s mouths. I was speaking of Lebron and what I believe he does, which is nothing more than a PR stunt by a guy who is worth over a billion dollars.
Do you think his personality and character should lead us all to believe he is a benevolent Mother Theresa type person?
You shouldn’t spend so much time defending other narcissists…
I try defending you all the time. Why do you have to judge his motives for giving? You don’t know him. He doesn’t really need to give that much nor have those foundations. He makes enough to get along without them. Maybe if you convince him to join the Church then you would not judge him so harshly?
This is one of many…
strange post.
